Hi. Wondering if some one could help. We have just come back from WDW and think that we will purchase 200 points at SSR:banana:  . When we did the tour we were told that we could get the 200 points as two contracts of 160 and 40 points. The reason we were thinking of this is that if we decide that we are not using all the 200 hundred points we could sell the 40 point contract and keep the 160 points. Does anybody know of any catches that I am missing that would mean that this is not as good as it seems.

Thanks for your help. Steve

This is good advice....If you had to sell you could sell either the 40 point or 160 point contract. But if you had a 200 point contract you would not be able to sell a portion of the contract. This was one of the great tidbits of info I received on the DIS......I was able to split our contract just in the nick of time. There are no real catches, it good sound advice.

I have done the same thing. I have my 160 point master contract and 2 50 point add-on contracts that I bought together. I split the 100 points into 2 contracts for the same reason as you. That way, if I find that I have too many points, I can sell them off in sections.

Since they are all connected to the same master contract, I have not found any drawbacks yet besides having to sign twice as much paperwork.:rotfl2:

The only negative I can think of is if you go to change the ownership you will have 4 deeds and 4 ROFR letters to record. Same if you sell though with small contracts going for more per point generally, it's not a big deal IMO.

The issue I would look into is whether splitting it that way will effect incentives you get for new purchases. A new purchaser has to buy 160 minimum and if he does so he gets the incentive of $10 per point off the price. The question is will they give you that same incentive for the 40 point contract if you split. Maybe someone knows the answer. Also, are there any other incentives going like the developer points that splitting could have an adverse impact on?

Any incentive applies no matter what the grouping of the contract. When I bought the 100 pts in 25 pt increments I got the same benefits as if the 100 pts had been in one single contract. Of course the min purchase would still apply for the 160 pts for a new member.

Purchase another 25 point and you get both the cash incentive and the 160 developer points with a member referral. We split ours into 175 & 50.
