Hi Everyone,

I own 175 SSR points, which were purchased resale. I want like to add on either 100 or 110 BLT points but am unable to do such over the phone with my guide because Disney is not registered to sell in Alberta (or something like that). Right now, it is more convenient and cheaper for me to travel to Disneyland to make this purchase. Does anyone know if I can purchase the points at Disneyland or if I for sure need to travel to WDW?

Thanks for any help with question and for all the information over the years.

Michael.

They have a center in Chicago I belive... I would check DVCs website. You do not have to do it at WDW, we bought at DL... Our guide is great there; Jim Marshall.

Thanks for the response. I'll likely try to talk with my guide tomorrow to confirm this. It would seem to make more sense that if I don't have to purchase @ WDW. I do have to laugh as I was just at WDW over Christmas!

Michael they can definately sell to you in Disneyland. You will get a new "guide" in DL for that transaction but otherwise it is straightforward.

and if you buy at DL, you may still be eligible for the VGC Founding Member program if you want to add on another small contract there...

If you already own SSR points, I think you can buy over the phone even though you are in Canada. Call your guide before traveling anywhere.

I could be wrong, but I've had them tell me at the DVC preview centre at SSR, over the phone, and from my guide that I cannot purchase direct from disney over the phone from Alberta even with already owned SSR points. Each time, they knew I had SSR points.

Yes, I could get tempted to add on VGC, while I'm at DL especially because I'll be staying at the GCH for five nights in the middle of February and will be able to get a feel for the resort and for DL. I've been to WDW many times but haven't been to DL since I was five so I'm curious for the trip. Fortunately, I think after a BLT add-on, I won't have cash available for such a purchase.

I keep telling myself that my DVC is for my three year old daughter, but it's obviously also for me.

Thanks for the responses...

Nope. They aren't licensed to sell in any province except Ontario. Doesn't matter whether you are already an owner or not.

You definitely can't purchase points over the phone when living in Alberta. I'm in Red Deer (Alberta) and I just spoke with my guide yesterday. Points can be sold over the phone to those in Ontario. My guide also said that unless you are a founding member you cannot purchase VGC points until March 26th when they become available to the public and to other DVC members. She anticipates that the points won't sell out prior to that date based on past history. Let's hope she's right! According to my guide, it took a year for Beach Club to sell out and I can't remember if it is a bit smaller or a bit bigger than VGC.
:wizard:

BC is at least twice the size of VGC and isn't the only DVC resort in WDW. But with the economy I can't imagine VGC would sell out to founding members. Or even that it would have if the economy were booming. That is interesting that it will/might go onsale to existing members and the public at the same time.

I just looked up the size of BCV and found that there were 208 units so it is quadruple the size of GCV. Still, it's so hard to predict how long it will take to sell out especially with it being the first DL DVC and with the economy.

I think they expected to sell about 1/2 of the points to VGC Founding members. Initially I think many members were planning on adding 50 or so points, but now with the higher point charts I think people will purchase more (I've bumped my plan up to 100 pts). At 100 you get DPs and $5/ppt incentive.

I've also heard there are some larger LA based companies wanting to purchase 1000+ points once they are available to the public. If that is true, I'd say it will probably sell out in about 6mo (3-4 mo from March 26)...

Is the rumor about DP's for a 100 pt purchase a pretty solid one? I've been glued to the boards for the past 24 hours and I can't recall anyone firmly claiming that they've received that particular info form their guide. I guess it would kind of make sense since the resort doesn't open till Nov. DP's might help me convince DH to bump our add on up to 100 . . . :rolleyes1

I added on while at Disneyland last Friday, I'm pretty sure there DPs were included in 100 pt add on. I would call and check though =)
