We just returned from OKW yesterday. I will post a trip report later.
We were able to get out of Florida before the Hurricane hit. We were flying in and out through the Tampa airport and got a flight out of Tampa for 6:00 am. I am Thankful to be sitting at home writing this post.
My Sister and her family could not fly out of Orlando because they closed the airport by noon Friday. They are scheduled to leave Monday @ 11:00 am (we will see).
Anyway, we stayed for 7 nights @ OKW and were due to check out 9-4-04. My Dsister's family were supposed to stay @ Pop Century for 1 night and then leave on Sunday. Plans were changed due to the hurricane.
I was concerned for my Sister and her family. We were leaving and they did have OKW for 9/3 and Pop for 9/4 but what about 9/5. And how do you transfer during a hurricane. We made some phone calls and even checked with the front desk about having my sister's family stay at OKW until Monday. No one was helping. WDW instructed CM's not to make any new ressies. I called DVC MS when they opened on Friday (they were there for 3 hours). I talked to Janet and explained our situation. She understood but could not help. We hung up.
Janet from MS called us back in our room about 3 minutes later and said that if we were a member staying on property that we would be accomidated. She said our conversation did not sit right with her and she asked what could be done. When she called back Janet took care of everything. She wanted to make sure there was a studio for my sister's family that was ready to be moved into. So, we packed up the 2 bedroom in 2 hours and moved everything over to a studio. MS credited back the Friday night stay in the 2 bedroom which in turn paid for the 3 nights in the studio plus we got back 6 points. If my sister needs another night in the studio it will be covered with the extra points.
I am writing a letter to MS about how wonderful Janet was and everyone @ OKW during the hurricane situation.
Right now my sister is sitting in room #1326 trying to get through the hurricane. I will post any comments she has about the resort when they return.
In light of Hurricane Francis I feel my DVC membership is Priceless. I know my Sister and her family are in a safe place with groceries and a studio ammenities. I feel my DVC is worth every penny! Say a little prayer for all of those going through the hurricane right now!
