DVC Premium AP

I want to upgrade from regular park tickets from UT to the special DVC Premium AP for our upcoming trip. The adult tickets are straight forward but I'm looking for clarification on kids tickets. I know the APs prices are the same for Adult and kids with this promotion. My question is this:

The UT adult tickets offer a higher level of savings than the kids tickets. Am I allowed to buy my 4 year old the Adult UT ticket, use it for admission on Day 1 and then upgrade her to the $399 AP? Or does it have to be a kids ticket? The savings difference between kid and adult is minor but still the more money the better.

Ill always take the extra savings.

That being said, What I want to avoid is a situation where they won't let me upgrade, which is why I'm asking the question.
