DVC Premium Annual Pass - Redemption Question - possible if child is absent?

We are a family of three and want to buy the PAP that is on sale until April 30. My husband and I are definitely going to WDW and on a cruise in Nov 2014. The entire family is doing the same in March 2015. The three of us are potentially going to do a quick trip this summer if we can get a good flight deal, but it is not guaranteed.

If we do not go this summer, will it be possible for my husband and I to activate my son's annual pass on our trip in November? I know it has to be activated before the end of January and there is a potential my son will not be going until March 2015. Does he have to be there to have it activated? He is only 12.

You can activate it, BUT it may be attached to your "fingerprint". But, I wouldn't worry about that. Just use it to enter a park one day.

I wouldn't do that, he may not be able to use it because the finger scan will not match.

You can go to guest relations and have it setup under his name. That will start the 1 year clock. It doesn't have to be used that day. The finger scan is set at first use.
