DVC: Pop Century?

Assuming the room configurations would be suite based and not motel based like they currently are, I wouldn't have a problem dropping 6-7 points there on a weeknight. Minimum point buy-in would be a big issue though.

Hey, there is nothing wrong with Pop Century. It is a nice place to stay if you are on a budget. There has been tremendous demand for family suites at the value resorts. I think this is what the plan is for the remainder of Pop.

Whoever started the DVC rumor, has no understanding of how DVC works, and who it's guests are.

Gotta be a joke started by a person who hates DVC and also hates the values. Lot's of them around. IMHO, there is no chance in heck that this has any merit. It is marketing 101. You do not change the perception of your product if it is working and people are buying. It would be product suicide. While I mix stays and I have no problem in staying at a value resort, I am not interested as a DVC member in getting a "value" resort. We have studios for that.

Don't get me wrong, POP is fine if I've got a few kids, and I understand the allure of it. I've just outgrown it. My last trip it provided the greatest amount of frustration of anything. To echo the last few posters, I can't imagine how it would make sense in the DVC Universe, except to the mouse's wallet. Personally if this flourished I would anticipate nicer accomodations but shared facilities, and not to be a snob, but part of buying into DVC is hanging with people who paid to be there, rather than 40 cheerleaders on a budget.

Not winning any friends with this post :p

I don't need the amenities. I stay onsite for the perks. I've never used a Disney pool, other then to stick my feet into once, or get an interesting shot of the jukebox. I'd love to call Pop home. I countdown the days until I stay there. Most those who already have DVC wouldn't do Pop, but there are a number of Pop fans. The icons are Disney to me. I look forward to the day they finish the legendary years, and I can stay in the 1910 building. I'll be booking my room for that they day they say it will open.

I especially like the display in the lobby of the appleIIc, the atari 2600, floppy disks, nintendos, etc. Reminds me of a Wisconsin Rummage Sale.

A DVC resort at PC, that is the dumbest idea I have ever heard. As a DVC owner I can't think of any reason to buy into that place. PC has its place but as a DVC resort that isn't one of them. :rotfl2:

It's like Mercedes Benz releasing a car to compete with the Chevy Cobalt, but in this case Disney would be competing against itself

I sure hope that they don't do a DVC. I only need a place to rest after a fun day at WDW. No way do I need a "HOME AWAY FROM HOME" , I'm on vacation and not spending my time in a room :rotfl:

I agree with Steve, DVC is known for class and better rooms and amenities then even some of the so called 4 star resort rooms. Disney is not having any problems selling DVC (contemporary DVC-need I say more).

I would not buy into that no mater how low the price was.

Heck, while they are at it, why doesn't Disney just make a bunch of crap sequels to beloved classics that go straight to DVD ? Wait....

Though I agree that the decor and room size is 'better' at mods and deluxes, I don't think your inferring that those who stay at Pop have no "class" is very nice  Class is not indicative of money one has or where one chooses to stay. Perhaps I mis-read your intent (which I apologize if I did) but the whole better class of people stuck out to me.

Personally, I don't like the values because they are too loud and I do not like the decor, but I do feel that they are a good value for those who choose to stay there. I don't see them fitting in with DVC based soley on price.

I also don't understand why there is an assumption that DVC rooms at the Pop would be anything like the current rooms. Can you not have upscale rooms at a fun resort?

I seriously doubt it will happen, but to assume that the rooms would somehow be lower class just because they are at POP is absurd.

I just wish they'd do something with the property. It just sits there, as a spooky reminder of 9/11 - one of the Ghost Towns of Disney.

He said the hotel rooms were not as classy, and in the sense of the word he is using it correctly. You are reading into this.

This makes me cry. Seriously.

It's hardly absurd. How the heck would you market the property as being equivalent to other DVC resorts when the Hotel portion is specifically marketed as being less then other resorts?

They could bulldoze it. That would work for me.
I like to think of them as the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow's public housing projects.

I don't believe that Pop will turn into DVC as the people who stay there know better than invest in a room that you don't stay in for long (only to sleep), as your having to much fun at the parks. Gosh, you can't even own it, they will let you pay fees to keep it looking pretty. :rotfl: :lmao:

There's a waste of money if I've ever heard one.

If you're interested in that, then can I interest you in this fine silk purse?
It's a pork product.
