I have tried to get information on camping at Disney using my points, but I can never get a straight answer as to how many points it would take a night or when time is available. The CM helping has me give her dates and she says "Unavailable". After going through three months I asked what was available and her response was "It doesn't work that way, I can't tell". HUH???? :sad2: Does anyone have this info? Thanks

Are you calling DVC??? They could tell you how many points per night, per season, per type of campsite. They range from 7 to 16 points per night per site. As a DVC member you should also have received a points chart & book, and you can sign into the DVC website (https://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/register/guestLogin?id=GuestLoginPage) The CMs generally cannot tell you dates that are available. They have to enter the dates you are requesting. It's just the way their reservation system works.

If you absolutely have to use your points at the Fort ok. Just be aware it could be significantly less expensive using AAA. I saved over $300 on a 13 night stay. Not insignificant.

Its very simple.First it is cheaper to use your points then cash.It is 8points during week and 11points for weekend. Now the trick is that you well have to make at least a 6night reservation before the computer kicks out available dates.I have had to do this since points where able to be used for the Fort. Now,after you get your 6plus nights that cover the time you need, you can cancel the days you do not want "BUT'the points are put into disney holding not DVC.What that means is that the points can only be used for a Reservation at the Fort or any other Disney Resort except DVC.

Does this mean that it's 8-11 points PER NIGHT, or 8 points for a WHOLE week and 11 for the WHOLE weekend? I've seen these numbers but never understood if they were nightly or weekly so any input is appreciated!

All that information is in the annual book you receive from DVC. It tells you how many points for what dates throughout the year. I believe if you look in the Disney Collection section the campsites are within that area of the book. We always stay on points. Just call DVC reservation and they will check on availability and make a reservation for you.:thumbsup2 1-800-********.

1 800 800 9800 is the phone number to DVC. Hope it doesn't block it this time.

I'm not-yet a DVC member (though I have aspirations, I just have to wait for the checking account to catch up with them) so I don't have the book to refer to.

I was thinking about purchasing from DVC By Resale dot Com; I have a family of 6 so pretty-much any trip has to be two rooms or a superdupermagicalexpialidociousultra villa, or a campsite, so we wanted to know how points would convert for two two-week stays at the Fort and then buy more and more points over time to eventually afford the villas.

chelbaby was correct on the phone number, but they won't talk to you at that number unless you're a member already. I don't know the non-member number, it's probably on the dvc website. because the points vary by season, holidays, weekend vs. weeknight, etc. (same as rates at the fort) it is hard to figure number of points to purchase. I think I would aim high. Since busiest times are 16 points per night multiply this by number of nights you'd stay times number of sites needed. I usually stay midweek (DH works weekends) during busy times, but not national holidays, so I typically use 10 points per night. (If I had to do math for myself, I'd say 10 points per night times 4 night stays times 3 visits per year on points = 120 points) We always buy thru thetimesharestore.com They also happen to sponsor the DVC thread on this website. The only drawback (currently) to purchasing on the resell market is that the points will not be able to be used for some conversions, including the cruiseline. For more info I'd go read the DVC thread.

If you are going to stay from a Sunday night to Friday morning, the DVC rates are pretty good if you can find someone to rent you points. The Friday and Saturday nights are significantly higher.

I'm sure you can find point charts online that will give you an idea of how many points per night it would take based on when you want to go to the fort.
