DVC points for cruise

3 points:

1- I just got back from an amazing cruise on the Wonder that I used points for. I think the benefit comes from not outlaying cash to vacation but using points which don't effect the balance in your checking account. Don't let renting points and cost versus savings analysis scare you. I just did the 4 night Wonder and 5 days in a two-bedroom villa at the Boardwalk. I would not have been able to lay out the cash for all of that. To me that's the benefit.

2- Although the cruise is great - for those of you who haven't seen the properties - speaking for the Disney Boardwalk - it is gorgeous and such a nice relaxing place (even if you don't want to do the parks). We've also gone to Puerto Rico, London, and upstate NY using our points and have enjoyed every location

3- Parents traveling without your kids. Thankfully, I don't have children yet - but speaking from a girl who's parents took a two week vacation every single year and left their six kids at home with a babysitter (sometimes 2) - don't worry. Your children will not need years of therapy to recover from the vacation you took. I am confident you you will leave them in the care of a responsible adult who loves them and will care for them immensely. You and your significant other deserve time alone too.

Just my thoughts!

First I have to tell you............DH and I travel without our three kids at least 1-2 times a year, be it a long weekend or a few days. I fully believe that it is therapy for us. We have been married only 8 years and with three kids (do your math!) we still need time to know each other. When the kids are gone I still have to live with him!

WE are cruising on points/cash in three weeks. I am sure we will appreciate the DVC points when it is all said and done. If you haven't gone on property, you are missing a treat! I love the Boardwalk!

This bears repeating! Yes, when the children are gone - you will still have eachother!!!!

And I also agree with fredms - they won't need years of therapy if you leave them home ------ they will have parents who love and nurture eachother and that in itself is the best reward of childhood!
