My family is going to Disney April 12th-20th. We first booked off site but now think we want to stay onsite. I priced out the moderate and the value but don't want to rule out renting points from someone to stay somewhere nice! Can anyone give me an idea on how many points I would need to stay at the BWI during this week and what it might cost price wise? I have never rented points so I have no idea how it works.
Also, my big question... Are the BWI and or beach club rooms under the DVC points the same rooms as those that stay there as a guest in the hotel or are they different? What is the decor like? Thanks for helping me out!

First off, you can't use DVC points to stay at BWI (Boardwalk Inn) or Beach Club hotel.

Assuming you mean BWV (Boardwalk Villas) or BCV (Beach Club Villas), you can see those point charts by clicking the link at the top of this page.
Be sure to scroll down to 2013, as the 2013 chart is different from the 2012 chart due to Spring Break / Easter dates.

Points depend on unit size (studio, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, Grand Villa), season, and day of week (Friday and Saturday nights are higher than other nights). Also, BWV has standard views and preferred views at different point requirements.

The studio unit would be most similar to a hotel room, but would have a bed and sleeper sofa rather than two beds.

You can find a link to the DVC point charts just above. Or here is a link to a points calculator. http://tagrel.com/util/dvcCalculator.php

BWI is a Disney hotel and is not part of the villas. Boardwalk Villas are part of the DVC resorts and is connected to BWI via the check-in area. It's similar at BC - that is a Disney hotel. The Beach Club Villas are the section that is part of DVC. At both BWV and BCV the rooms are different from the hotel and have a different decor. Allears.net has photos from both BCV and BWV for you too see all the different sized villas:

At this point in time, you might only be able to get the preferred/garden/pool view at BWV. Standard view/BW view go very quickly at 11 months out.

:) David's rentals is a sponsor of the DVC forums and is a very reputable broker. He is more expensive but is the middleman and helps handle the transaction--so it would be worth it me to use him. Points on the rental board go anywhere from $7-10 from what I have read here--David's points are $13...but again I would feel more secure with him handling a reservation I had no control over.

With a DVC villa--if you rent points the owner has complete control of the reservation and you do not have any...so you need to build a relationship with the owner. David kinda takes the guess work out for you. He is a DVC owner himself and understands how the reservation system works. 99% everyone is above board with rentals but thre is a stickie I think that gives you guidelines on picking a rental source. It is a great value for the money.
