DVC points for Adventures by Disney?

We are thinking about buying into DVC. Can you use points for Adventures by Disney?

Yes you can. It is costly! The per person adult price for the cheapest excursion in the value season is 246 points (DC and American Southwest) per adult.

The real value for DVC is to stay at a DVC resort. I wouldn't buy in to use it for trips elsewhere. I am new to this (we have owned for exactly 1 week), but we've been doing homework on this for a while. The other trips are more for allure than real value.
