I was wondering if you purchase points at one dvc say 100 point contract and then purchase 50 points at another resort. Can you book at the 11 month window for the 50 points resort for a total of 150 points? Am I making any sense here

I guess I want to know if I buy 100 points at OKW and 50 points at BCV can I book my BCV at the 11 month window for all 150 points?

No, you can only use the points from a given resort at the 11 month window and must wait until 7 months out to use the other points. In your example you could use 100 points at resort A and 50 points at resort B at the 11 month window but not all 150 points at either resort. Of course you can bank, borrow and/or wait for the 7 month window.

So I can book my 50 points 11 months out and then I am confused. I thought that as long as you had enough points when your reservation was here then you were okay, in other words I could you my points from another resort with the 50?

At seven months, yes.

Some people use their contract for the resort they want to stay at at 11 months to get the Sun - Thur nights, which are usually easier to book. They then wait until the seven month window and use the points from the other resort to book the weekends.

Some people bank and borrow their other resort to be able to book that one at eleven months every other or ever three years.

Some plan on a split stay, booking both resorts at 11 months, then - if there is availability - switch at seven.

Some just wait until seven months and book the whole thing where ever there is availability.

Think of them as totally separate and unrelated and not combinable at 11 months out but one contract at 7 months out.

Do I have to have the points available at time of reservation in the 11 month window or can I count on getting them by the time I go?

They have to be available for the time of the travel. Say your in the 2008 UY but want to reserve in 2009 using 2009 points, you could do that. But if you didn't have enough 2009 points you'd have to bank or borrow (or get points transferred form another member) prior to making the reservation.

okay so I book BCV at 11 months out and use my combined points from same uy BCV and OKW?

If you want to book BCV 11 months out, only BCV points can be used to book that stay. Owning at both BCV and OKW allows you to book at BCV 11 months out using your BCV points and at OKW using your OKW points. Owning at both resorts does not allow you to use OKW points at BCV prior to the 7-month window.

As Lisa noted, you can't combine points for the 11 month window unless it's points from that resort. But you can book at each home resort at 11 months out and them try to change over to just one resort once you're to the 7 month window.

The answer is no. In your example, you would get 100 home vacation points at OKW and 50 home vacation points at BCV. Between 11 months and 7 months, those home vacation points can only be used at their respective homes. At the 7 month point, those points change into vacation points which can then be combined to use at any DVC resort.
