How many points are needed to stay at the GF instead of a DVC resort?

Dates I'm interested in learning the points for are 12/23 to 1/3...

Short answer - A FLIPPING LOT OF POINTS!

Real answer - if you are talking about 2009, then it's 66 points per night Sun-Thurs and 118 points per night Fri-Sat for the December dates and 42pts/76pts for the January dates. I think it comes to (assuming 1/3 is your checkout day):

December weekday nights = 462
December weekend nights = 236
January weekend nights = 152

850 points

That's for a garden view hotel room with 2 queens and a daybed. The January points are based on the 2009 point chart - they might be a couple of points more for 2010 points. Plus there's a $95 booking fee, and if you book and then cancel, those points CANNOT be used at a DVC resort because they are permanently reservation points after being booked and cannot be converted to vacation points again.
