DVC Points and room discounts

My DF's parents are using their DVC points to get rooms for our guests for the first night of our wedding. Can they get any kind of discounts on rooms if it is for my wedding guest?

yeah I meant maybe getting some sorta discount with using less points since we will be booking 5 or 6 rooms.

A DVC member can make a cash reservation for anyone at any DVC resort at a substantial discount. We did this last summer for our friends and family attending our daughters wedding.

I was considering 'renting' points from DVC memebers for me guests to help towards the cost--and possibly trying to do our entire wedding week in DVC points. Anyone know if this is allowed?

I believe that is allowed. Somebody on this board did it I think.

Check out the DVC rent board and they can help with any questions. The running price is $10 a point. An example of price = SSR in July Studio is 13 points so $130 for one night. If you want to know any more info, PM me.

Just make sure that you don't pay more than $10 per point and that the DVC member gives you a reservation confirmation in your name.

Its a good idea to have a look at the DVC rental boards - it's not unusual for a rental to be $11 a point, either... and that's still a bargain.

There's plenty of discussion on the DVC boards regarding rentals, and the benefits and pitfalls therein.

ok..so DF did some research for us and found this: DVC does not offer general discounts to its members for cash-paid rooms. However, periodically it will offer 25% off rack-rates at DVC resorts only (no CR, PR, or GFR&S, moderates, or values). So in other words, no discounts on cash-paid rooms unless they release a special promotion. This info could be wrong...he IS a man lol...but he's pretty good with the DVC info.

Check your DVCMember site asap - we got an email today saying that there was a special discount on rooms for friends and family of DVC members paying cash at Saratoga Springs. I deleted it because we weren't going to use it, but this probably was sent to your parents as well and it might help you. Good luck!
