How does DVC make points more affordable and allow for moderate DVC without devaluing current DVC? A DVC point split. Like a stock split, they split the points into two and double the point requirement for the deluxe. Current owners are unaffected by this change because they are points double and their maintenance fees remain the same. The result tho is Disney can reduce the price per point by 1/2. The new moderate DVC is built cheaper and the point requirements are lower. Deluxe resort point per night were doubled with the split.

Yes, that would work. My original proposal of having the moderate DVC be substantially cheaper works more easily here, because its harder to have rooms for 5 points per night.

I think everyone is overthinking headlines, which are based on rumor.

I do not think any new DVC will be "moderate" in the sense we view Deluxe/Mod/Value resorts. The land being rumored is currently loosely associated with a Moderate resort is all. That does not make a DVC built there moderate. The land in question can have its own amenities, and may be possible to build a walking path to the new back gate of Hollywood Studios.

If it is "moderate" it will only be by the same standard that OKW and SSR are "moderate."

Interesting concept.

Doesn't really make anything more affordable, though. Double the points at half the price still has the same net impact. Might be some modest benefit from perceived lower prices.

As for Caribbean Beach, I agree with @_auroraborealis_ . I don't envision the accommodations being anything lesser than AKV Value with a point chart in the same general area.

A canal with boat to HS is also a potential from the land that is being rumored for DVC.

I mean, I don't doubt they might build a DVC there. I simply doubt anything on the "it won't be deluxe!" thing. SSR and OKW are considered deluxe, although they are not "near park." The land near CBR can be made similarly "near something" as SSR and OKW fairly easily. A Deluxe DVC with similar footprint as BLT can easily go on that land without sharing CBR amenities. The points may be cheaper than VGF/Poly because it will be a stand-alone resort, not sharing amenities with an existing deluxe, and not on as large a piece of land as OKW or SSR (which allowed building of more pools/amenities).

But imagine BLT, divorced from Contemporary, with a boat to a park, and instead of TOTW something more like Olivia's, and a pool-side QS like Captain Cook's. Maybe not as tall a tower, but a cluster of smaller multi-story buildings around a centroid with feature pool. This would fit on that piece of land. It would be deluxe.

But taller DVC buildings next to shorter moderate resort buildings just don't look the same. Even CR is tall compared with BLT. I can see them putting it on the DHS side of Victory Way instead of the CBR side. That would also give them lots of room to expand to build more to keep DVC going.

Or even move the entry to DHS from the entry off Buena Vista Drive to Victory Way and use the entire space opposite BWV (and the Raceway Station) for the new DVC resort. The existing entry always has problems with too many cars, not enough lanes.

They could even move many of the race starts from the Epcot parking lot to the new expanded DHS parking lot and keep it closer to WWoS (with shuttles between the two areas for races).

Point split makes points cheaper and the perception of cheaper buy in without devaluing existing points. It seems like a simple way to build a moderate at reduced cost while keeping the deluxe resort value high.

The points are part of the deed. Can't do that.

Anyway, it won't be a CBR moderate. Sheesh. No.

No.

It'll be Star Wars themed and direct access to DHS.

Millennium Falcon wing. X wing.

Mos Eisley Cantina, Maz Kanata's Cantina (Mos and Maz')

Moderate? No. $220/point and people will pay it just to sit in the Falcon mock up in the lobby (Direct DVC members only, please.)
