I have read on several posts reguarding renting DVC points from owners for use on their own vacation. What is thisand how does it work
. Also can you get PHP tickets and add on DDX dining? Inquiring minds want to know

Ok now, I just read some post under DVC, I'm still not getting the points. Someone had 300 points to rent @ $10.00 pp. What does that mean? How many points does it take fo my family of 4 (3 adults 1 17yo) to go for 9 nights? I'm sorry but I just don't get it yetDVC owner who, for different reasons, rent out their points and you get to stay in a DVC for a lot less then if you booked directly through Disney.
You check out the rental board and look for someone who either has an already booked reservation you can use, or has points and then you tell them when, where and how long you are looking to go for and they try to find you your reservation.
As far as tickets, you buy them as you normally would-either form Disney or through a ticket broker. You can also add on the dining plan when you get there.
I have rented twice and both times have been great experiences. You just have to be smart and careful. I recommend using PayPal to pay for the transaction.
Minnie,The poster has a total of 300 points for rent. If you want ALL 300, the cost would be 300 x $10pp = $3,000. You first have to figure out when you want to go and what type of accomodatins you would like (studio, 1 br, 2 br, villa), where you would like to stay and how many points it would be. Remember, where the posters home resort is (if they listed that). Reservations cannot be made out of the home resort until 7 months on check out date and 11 months from their home resort. The poster ususally lists the home resort. The home resort is where they own their points.
You then contact the poster and ask them to rent their points. They make the reservation for you (based upon availability). Be flexible in your dates so they have a couple of options when they contact member services. They will then contact you and they will let you know what their procedure is from there (Cancellations, payment, contract).
You can add on the dining plan. Just let the poster know. You pay for it upon check-in.
Hope this helps a bit.

Minnie,
Yes it helps a whole bunch, thank you. One more question for you if you don't mind. Do the DVC (studios, 1bdrm, etc) rentals include daily mousekeeping like the other resorts, this is big considering that my DW gets a break from making beds
. Thanks again for the info.
Mike
For a 9 night stay, you would get trash and towel service on Day 4 (check in day being Day 1) and a full cleaning on Day 8.....
Does anyone know the new rules for renting out points?
Does anyone know the new rules for renting out points?
Not quite correct. If you stay eight nights or more, you get a full cleaning on day 4 and trash removed and towels replaced on day 8. If you stay less than eight nights, you get your trash removed and towels replaced on day 4. If you want clean towels every day, you have to pay for those. A towel pack (one set of four bath towels, two hand towels and four face cloths) is $6. If you need extra shampoo, soap, etc, you also need to pay for those or bring your own from home.
DVC is Disney's version of a timeshare and members own points to make reservations. They have home resorts that give them an advantage for booking those resorts 7 to 11 months out. After 7 months out, all points are equal.
You can figure out how many points you need for a stay by checking the link at the top of the page for DVC Points Charts. Or you can just make a request for a specific resort and villa type. Studios only sleep four. One bedrooms sleep four or five depending on the resort. Two bedrooms sleep eight or nine depending on the resort. One child under the age of thre doesn't count towards occupancy.
When you rent a reservation from a DVC member (you are not really renting points - points are worthless to you), the member fully controls the reservation until the moment you check in. You can't add, modify or cancel the reservation. You can't call Member Services for any reason - they won't talk to you if you are not the member who used the points to make the reservation. The member sets all terms for payment, cancellation, etc and you either accept it or not.
The member has to add the dining plan or Magical Express for you and any requests. You pay for dining when you check in. You can buy any tickets you want.
I thought I read something that you can only post for renting within 30 days on here--is that right? Sorry if I misunderstood. There's a sticky at the top of the thread.
So if someone is requesting to rent points for a few months from now it would be okay to rent them? I've never done this before, that's why I'm asking-thanks!
