DVC Point Rental / UPH Passes

Anyone have any suggestions for an individual renting DVC points that wants to get the Unlimited Park Hopper passes? We are also Disney Club members, and have called the reservation line twice trying to get these passes. Both times I was told that they cannot access reservations from the DVC to add-on the UPH passes.

I'm assuming that DVC won't deal with me directly since I'm not the member.

Any chance I'm just running into CMs who aren't looking the right place?

Buying the passes at arrival will cost our party more than $100 additional. I hate to go that route unless I have no other choice.

Incidentally, the main reason we want to use the UPH passes this time is to make multiple short visits to Disney Quest over the 6-day stay. Otherwise we'd just pre-purchase the regular Park Hoppers as we have in the past.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Since you're staying on points, you will probably be eligible for 10% off the cost of a UPH if you purchase the passes at checkin. This benefit is generally for members only, but your room keys will say "DVC Member" on them, so I'm sure you'll get the discount. My brother's family did when he stayed on our points last year.

I don't know how that compares with the DC discount, but 10% sounds like a good deal to me. They will also generally drop the first or last day (or both, sometimes) from the pass. For example if you're staying 7 nights, you normally have to buy an 8 day pass. But if you're arriving late or leaving early, you could purchase a 7 day pass instead. That's can be a real big savings.

Thanks for the reply. I had read about the 10% discount shortly after posting my message. If my math is correct, that would actually save me a couple dollars more per pass than the advance purchase + Disney Club discounts.

The only question remaining was whether they would let me utilize the discount while staying on someone else's points. Glad to hear your brother was able to do just that.

Anyone else have similar experiences? Do the CMs allow non-DVCers to take the 10% discount if staying on someone else's points? Or is it one of those "depends on the CM" type of things?
