Hi,

Not a DVC member, but have rented from members using the rent/trade board in the past.

Question: Can we rent points from members for the Disney cruise, and if so, how do we know how many points it will take and how do we proceed with the rental?

The point calculator doesn't list the Disney cruise line, or California's lodge for knowing how many points it will take.

Please advise! :confused3

If you were to rent points for a cruise it would probably end up costing you more than if you paid DCL directly. Points required for a Cat 11 in Sept 2011 for a 3 night cruise range from 49 to 52 points per person. The same cruise for cash direct from DCL is $379 plus taxes.

If you post what length cruise you are thinking about, I can post a link the the point chart. That will allow you to compare the approx rental rate to the current cash rates from DCL.

Ah, I see. Good to know the ins and outs of this one. I'm still trying to figure out how to get 7 people on a Disney cruise without busting the budget...we'll try! thanks for the info.

I own DVC points. But I rented my points out last year and paid cash for the cruise. And I know others do the same too.

7 people for a Disney cruise? Sounds like fun.

We are DVC members, and used our points several years ago to take a seven day cruise on the Disney Magic, when it was new. It cost a thousand points for four adults and two kids in two cabins. It seemed inexpensive, as we had the points, but in hindsight, we would have been further ahead to pay cash for the cruise and rent out the points.

You would also be hit with a $95 reservation fee plus if you need to make any changes, another $95.
