My claim was more based on reading posts on these boards that BWV and BLT std are two of the more difficult to get if you don't book at 11 months. Nothing wrong with that, everyone always says buy where you want to stay, just think this may start being more the case then in the past.
Standard View categories are also among the smallest in the program. If memory serves, only about 10% of BLT is Standard View while 70% is Lake View.
We really have no way of knowing whether Standard View fills up early because of high demand or simply because there are so few rooms. I'm sure it's a combination of the two to some degree, and
DVC would have access to those statistics.
I will say that AKV Standard View appears to have fairly low demand, as well as being in the minority of rooms.
whats to stop big point renters booking all the weekends, effectivley blocking others from booking full weeks?
Biggest factor would be demand. What's the market for renting points on the weekends? DVC members can use their own points for weekend stays. Disney runs a lot of cash specials for FL residents and AP holders.
Why would a speculative renter even bother reserving a block of weekend dates? What's the market for getting rid of those rooms?
I'm sure there will be a rise in reservations from members who live within driving distance. But given the fact that weekend reservations are currently so low, seeing a rise in those numbers is a
good thing for us all. Those who still plan to use points predominately for weekdays should find greater availability as some members begin to move their points away from weekdays and toward weekends.

Owners living close by will definitely be jumping on the weekends.
Good! Weekends are so under-utilized now that there is plenty of room to absorb additional demand. And that will free-up dates during the week.
The charts do still demand a high cost for weekend stays and there are only so many members who live within easy driving distance. Overall I don't think this will immediately cause the program to shift to a point where weekends are immediately gobbled-up at 11 months.
DVC may prove to be a more appealing purchase for nearby residents now, so there is likely to be a gradual shift over time much the same way that demand for weekdays continued to rise under the old charts. But as long as DVC continues to monitor the situation and adjust when necessary, I doubt we will ever reach a point where weekend far exceeds weekdays. Not with these new charts.
