We've never gotten a call either - but I seem to remember (somewhere in the past, so my memory is a bit vague) that we filled out a "contact preference" during our initial stages of DVC ownership.
Since I opted out of phone calls and marked email/snail mail as the preferred method of contact, I don't think that we have received any calls from our guide. We get the auto emails with DVC updates and any number of offerings on new sales, referrals, etc. via the mail.
I must admit I have envied those on the DIS who mention getting a call from their guide - but I have also assumed he wouldn't call since we expressed no interest in phone calls.
