That may depend on where you are thinking. I've had some really great RCI exchanges, but I'm using non-DVC timeshares that are much less expensive, so my definition of "good option" might be easier to meet.Opinions please: if you can't use DVC points for where you want to go, is RCI a good counter-option? Easy to use? And I am talking about locations that are no where near Disney properties. Thanks.
I think this is the correct answer. IMO using DVC points for RCI exchanges is a very bad value. If it was me I would rent out my DVC points then go to redweek and book a timeshare that way. That should get you significantly more value than doing a RCI exchange. It's probably easier (and a better value) to rent your DVC points and use the proceeds to stay where you want to be.
The only exception is if the points are about to expire, trading into RCI is a better value than losing them!I think this is the correct answer. But even better is to plan so you don't lose them. It can be difficult with stuff like covid. The only exception is if the points are about to expire, trading into RCI is a better value than losing them!

Redweek is a great place to find timeshare rentals direct from owner or to buy/sell a timeshare. Unfortunately, once your DVC points are deposited to RCI, you can’t use them via Redweek. However, Redweek and the Timeshare Users Group are great places to find out about TS you’re thinking of using via RCI.Hi David81,
We are fairly new to DVC and ended up being in a position of use it or lose and had to bank points to RCI. What is Redweek that you mentioned?
Thank you,
Di
Or grandfathered by buying before 3/11/2011.That may depend on where you are thinking. I've had some really great RCI exchanges, but I'm using non-DVC timeshares that are much less expensive, so my definition of "good option" might be easier to meet.
Based on your subject title, it's also worth pointing out that RCI is available to any DVC owner, whether resale-only or not. However, some other options---a Disney Cruise, the Disney Collection, etc.---can only be booked using points acquired directly from Disney.

To use your points banked into RCI, you’ll need to book through DVC. On the member website, under Plan a Vacation, click on How to Book RCI. That page tells you the basics. Up in the top right corner you’ll see View All RCI Resorts. Click there to find the listings of resorts you can trade into with your DVC RCI points. You can use Redweek and TUG for more information about those resorts, but be aware that not all RCI resorts are available via DVC, only the ones you can see via the DVC member website. Here on DISboards, look at and search the Member Services forum for threads about booking RCI with your points.Oh!! Thank you so much!
Does anyone have a great place that they’ve been too using DVC points that were banked into RCI that you could recommend?
