DVC packing list

I am starting to work on our packing list for our DVC trip in less than a month.
This will be our first stay as owners.
Our home resort is Beach Club but by the time paper work was finished there were no rooms. We are still wait listed and hoping but so far no luck.

We are booked at SSR with 2 two bedrooms and a group of 17 (2 babies) of us.

What things do I need to pack that I normally do not take?

I know for sure that I should pack some laundry soap and breakfast foods like coffee, cereal and fruits but what else?

I assume there are sheets and bedding for the pack n plays?

Any ideas from all you experienced owners?

The list will be different for everybody. I see you already are planning breakfast in your room; we do that as well. If you are a coffee drinker, then you will need extra coffee and coffee filters. I don't know if you plan on eating any meals in, but if you do you might consider a grocery stop if you have a car. We usually stop and get some deli meats, cheese, and bread for times when we just need a quick meal. We have a brita filter we use, but if you don't want to pack one, buying bottled water at a grocery stop will save $$$ over buying it in the parks.

I would definitely start to organize a grocery list. You have a large group - are you on the dining plan? If not (I've never done it so far), maybe are you planning a couple of meals all together in one of the villas?

I'd send or bring spices and small condiments, then pick up (or have delivered) the other grocery items. It's hard without a good list ahead of time.

If it were me, I'd consider even a turkey dinner or a roast. They are super easy to prep, smell great, are actually very cheap, and may be a memorable way to have a meal together. Also easy with the babies around, rather than in a restaurant, they could be playing or napping, or watching tv.

Or cookie dough - for easy fresh cookies that would make the room smell nice at the end of a day.

If you do that, I'd get a pack of good paper plates for clean up. Maybe even bring some cute plastic reusable ones, holiday themed (Target or the Dollar Store?), then toss or leave when you head home.

Maybe decorate the rooms a bit - to surprise your family? I have a tiny tree that I took one year with little lights, got for maybe $10 at Target. I'm going to dig it out for our upcoming trip also - makes the room festive! Dollar Tree has window clings - they won't hurt the windows so housekeeping shouldn't mind.

I knew we would need coffee but duh me forgot about filters! We do instant at home!

We have on the meal plan because I refused to cook and more so clean up after 17 people! This is my vacation too!

Cookie dough is a great idea! Everyone loves fresh baked cookies! YUM!

I see there is a tree swap and it is available for three of the days we are there but I was thinking that it might be a bit of a pain to set up for just part of the trip and we are split into 2 two bedrooms that may or may not even be near one another plus we are still waited listed and half of us may end up at one resort and the other half at another resort. That may or may not be a bad thing!

We are flying to my parents home in FL and then driving them to Disney so I am limited on what I can can bring on the plane but we could dig up some decorations from my parents house. Window stickies would be easy to pack too!

There are dishes in the suites, correct? I didn't get to go on the tour when my dad bought into DVC so I am working off of what I think I know. But either way paper plates would make for less clean up.

Buzz, just out of curiosity, on your list you put plastic wrap. What do you use that for?

One thing I keep meaning to take but always forget are plug in night lights. We usually wind up leaving some light on in the closet or bathroom or kitchen. But you are not in familiar territory.

zip lock bags are great for left overs.

Don't forget to bring salt and pepper!

I'm bringing some aluminum foil too for covering the casserole dish in the oven.

I'd guess the plastic wrap is for left overs.

There are plates, silverware, and glasses;large and small for a group of 8. There should also be some plastic storage containers and baking dishes, pots and pans. I've found everthing I needed to prepare a meal.

There is a dishwasher with detergent, along with a washer and dryer.

Do I need to take Joy or some kind of dish soap to hand wash dishes if needed and what about dish rags or a sponge?

There is a small bottle of dish soap and a sponge in the villa. We did a five day trip and cooked all but two of our meals in, including baby bottles and feeding stuff, and we had plenty of soap to hand wash dishes frequently.

I see you mentioned the Pack N Play and sheets... I believe they do provide one sheet. However, you may want to bring an extra just in case. You never know what types of "accidents" happen overnight... then you can just change the sheet and go back to sleep! We rented a crib that came with bedding but brought extra sheets for the crib and the Pack N Play... I'd rather be prepared!

As for limits on the plane, you could always ship things down to your parents (or directly to the resort to hold for you).
As for the way back, if it's extra decorations, etc. that you'd want for the next trip anyway, then an owners locker might be a good option to store things and not have to schlep it back and forth.
