DVC owner re: renting out pts ???

we just bought into DVC this past august and as you all know you get developer points to use at Saratoga Springs or other DVC resorts outside of orlando. My husband and I think we want to rent those out but wasnt sure how to do it.. we have rented points from DVC owners prior to buying into DVC but wasnt sure exactly how this is done.. any suggestions...???

Go to the DVC Rent/Trade Board and be sure to read the threads stuck at the top of the board. They provide some useful suggestions and links to other threads with information about renting.

You will want to title your thread "Points for Rent". Also be sure to read the directions about properly maintaining and closing your rental thread.

This is just my opinion, but with the restrictive nature of the current Developer Points I think it may be difficult to rent them. You will be subject to restrictions (SSR/DLR's only and the 7 month booking window) that will limit the potential renters you will be able to help. It also seems that you are not the only owner with this idea, and therefore basic supply and demand principles seem to be working against you. To be clear I am not anti-renting and I hope you have success, but you asked and I think it will take more work for less reward than a "regular" rental.

I am in agreement. In fact, we attempted to rent our Developer points. I can't tell you how many people can't read. It was very clear that they were for SSR ONLY at WDW, but I got so many requests for other villas! It was two weeks of people saying they were interested, checking on availability, and then the people saying they weren't interested. We were going to sell the points and go on a cruise, but instead we decided to simplify and just use the points for ourselves! We are actually very excited to have our first 11 night stay just the two of us .... not bringing our 5 kids!
