DVC Online Tour---$40 gift card?

Have had my card about a week, and was very dubious about calling because did not know what I was letting myself in for, then found this tread :thumbsup2 I will definitely be giving them a call soon, will add the $40 to my cc reward points which go a long way to buying most of DH and my food while at Disney. We have a trip planned in April. If I have ever received these cards before I have done like Good Morning Dewdrop and just threw them away. Have never heard of them doing this on the phone - only at Disney- and we never wanted to "waste" any of our time there ;) I do usually look at my Disney mail pretty closely though, so doubt I have received them before. They must be "hurting" on people signing up for DVC to do phone tours. Our daughter has DVC at Boardwalk (several years ago when it was REALLY a good deal) and we went with her one year there. That is my favorite one.

37 minutes with the dude on the phone.......but he said the gc would come in about 30-45 days..

Just called and talked to a cast member named Judy. She was very nice and told me right away a gift card would be mailed to me within 45 days. Then we talked about points, prices, maintenance fees, etc. I asked a few questions and from beginning to end 20 min. tops. Didn't ask if I thought I would like to buy in or pushy at all - was a pleasant conversation - yippee, another $40 toward my trip in April including my cc points

I did my tour on the 21st of Dec. and I still have not even gotten the informational packet. Has anyone else not heard anything from them for this long after the tour?

I spoke with Gib today, and after walking me through a few points (less than ten min), he said I would need to watch the additional videos that he emailed me (on my own time), and then call him back tomorrow before he could send out the gift card. It's still $40, so I'll do it, but def not as easy as some of your experiences have been lol.

I got the postcard and have to call soon before the offer is up! I do have a question though, has anyone tried calling who didn't get the card? I have a friend who is going to Disney and I was wondering what info they ask for. I didn't want to give her the number to call if they ask for a code or know who they sent all the cards out to. Thanks!

I got the postcard but it was posted in here somewhere that others called who hadn't and they just ask for the 6 digits of your disney visa. So as long as she has the disney visa she's good to go.

you don't give any code.
just like others have posted, the first 6 digits of your disney visa cc.

all disney visa cc have those same first 6 numbers.

that differentiates the disney visa from other bank visa cc.

Both my husband and I have separate Disney Visa cards - different last names, too - and I got the invite... he did not.

WDW Lover, it is a random thing with the cards being mailed to Disney Visa Card holders, but no matter the names, they say it's only one gift card per address.

wish I had known this. I talked to Gib too, but he never said I had to call back, however, I have not yet received my packet of information. Stinks! We leave in three weeks, and I want my gift card!!!

Wonder why everyone is having such different experiences getting the $40.00 gift card. Some seem to have very pushy cast members, still others have to watch DVD and call back - nothing like that was said to me :confused3 Just that my packet would come and then within 45 days the GC would come and I would need to sign for it!

My DH talked to a guy for about 7 minutes. That was it. He asid he was nice and not pushy at all.

Said it would be a few weeks before we got the mail.

We called Sunday afternoon. Had to register with the first person then got connected to a salesperson. We were ready for a hard sales job and 30+ minutes on the phone, but Bill just talked to us for maybe 4 minutes tops, and that's with me asking 3 questions and getting his responses.

Strange thing is, we went into the call just to get the $40 as we didn't think we could ever afford it. But in those 3 minutes Bill gave us numbers much lower than I'd expected and really got us to think...hmmm, well, maybe.... We spent the next hour on the DVC website ane here on the DIS doing research. Strange how things turn out sometimes. If only those pushy 3+ hour timeshare presentations would take a lesson from Disney. :hippie:

Is it okay when we call to tell them we would like to hear about it but we will not be purchasing and would like th 40 giftcard. Is that what most people do?

You don't have to tell them you're not going to purchase right now. Just tell them that you're "calling for the DVC online tour with the $40 gift card."

I forgot to add, but when I talked to Bill, he didn't even ask for the 6 digit number. :confused3

I recieved my packet today! It's all so interesting, even if I can't afford to do it right now. I may look more into actually buying into it, maybe after I finish school!!

I even loved the coloring book that came in the packet!!

Can't wait to recieve the gift card!

Don't think I could just ask for the gift card and say I'm not interested. I just told them I would like to hear a little about it and then study the materials they sent - which was the truth, even though we do not plan to buy. It was quick and friendly.

DH talked to someone on December 15th, but we have never received any info in the mail. The lady even told him she would send a coloring book for each of our kids. He doesn't think she said anything about having to call back, just that he would get info in the mail. What gives?:confused3
