DVC on a cruise

Hi, I'm new to all of this as I just bought into AKV in October. I'm going on a cruise in a couple of weeks that I booked with cash. How can I let DVC know I'm onboard so I can attend the DVC member function?

There's a DVC desk on board. You could tell them. Ask for the magnet and any pins or other goodies.

I asked the same thing not too long ago; we are cruising next month on cash. It was shared that DVC runs a manifest a few weeks out so they will know if members are on board. When you get to your cabin, if you see a DVC magnet then they know you are on board. If its not there then just stop by the DVC desk. Have a great trip and welcome home!

What is the DVC function? Is it a time share sales opportunity? We are using DVC points for our March cruise.

The members event in the past was a presentation but it's worth going. They serve mimosa's and have really good give aways (on board credits etc).

Some have said that the best incentives are offered on the cruises. It's to bring new ownership and add on sales while on the cruise.

It's usually offered at least 2x's on short cruises and should be in the Navigator when offered.

Fwiw anyone can go to the presentations. But you want to make sure they know you are onboard so you get any goodies they give.

There is usually a DVC "member celebration" the first day around 2:30. Other days there might be a DVC presentation, which is more aimed at new members.

If you don't have a magnet on your stateroom door, let the DVC desk know. They try to identify all DVC on board (even if not using points - I have never sailed on points) and often you will find some nice gifts in your cabin. There are also nice prizes at the events. I got a nice cherry wood box and a music box from DVC on cruises.

Be sure to check your navigators (the shiny schedule of each day's events) for the DVC presentations - they will be listed there. Depending on how long a cruise you are going on depends on how much you'll see from DVC. The longer cruises lately have been very gift friendly at the presentation and one lucky person gets a nice onboard credit.

Really on a 3 day cruise, I don't think I would waste my time at another presentation unless you think you want to add-on points. You can just walk by the DVC desk and pick up some baseball hats and lanyards if you want/need any. Sometimes those items just show up in your room at some point in your cruise.

Typically you'll get a postcard in your room which you can trade in for a Mickey pin some night at the DVC desk.

It's a nice touch that makes you feel special to be a part of DVC. My favorite lanyard is a DVC one that I got on a cruise back in 2009. Since the ships still use cards, I guess that's the only place I'll be able to wear it now.

Be sure to get some referral cards as well. If you talk to folks on the cruise and they use your referral when they become members, you could (depending on your home states laws) get a nice little cash bonus. We got a gift card of $200 last time I believe.

You will probably also get Lanyards in addition to the magnet. We usually find them in our room one day.
