Is there already a DVC Ohio 'Buckeye' Thread? I saw the Illinois one and thought it would be neat to see how many are from the Buckeye State (and if we have any close DVC neighbors).

Where do you live, where is your DVC Resort, how long have you been members? Anything special you want to share???

We live in Hilliard (suburb of Columbus so right in Buckeye Country), we own at BLT, and we just joined last September! We can't wait for our first trip home in December!

We are big Buckeye Fans from Toledo. We joined DVC in 2008 at SSR and love that resort. We are leaving Saturday to drive down and stay at BLT from 5/16 - 5/22 :cool1::dance3:

I am so jealous that you are going so soon- it seems like the longest wait for us to go in December but my kids really wanted to go at Christmas time this year. The wait is killing me so much that I am starting to plan our 2011 trip to keep me thinking Disney.

We are huge Buckeye Fans too (and my husband is an alumni).

O-H-I-O Go Bucks!

Little Wonders- you'll have to let me know if you have any tips on driving as we are going to drive for the first time in June of 2011. We are hoping to find some neat things to do on the drive down or back.

the drive is tough, but you will still have alot of fun. My wife said she would never do it again after driving a few years ago. I too am jealous, I am going nuts waiting until August to go down.

Hi! We're new DVC Members (AKV) and we live in Westerville (suburb of Columbus). We had already planned a Disney Cruise for this year, so our first visit won't be until next year! My husband and I are both OSU grads, so always happy to see fellow Buckeyes!

why ? because we like it here!

funny, we joined in july but was not official til sept. @ blt.

if you are driving from columbus down, we recommend the route

35. if you leave by 6am , can make it south of jacksonville

appox. 8pm. [ so just pick a hotel in that area. i think there's
an outer belt / and or 95 south. ]

used to lived in cocoa beach in the 70's. go south on a-1a to sebastian
inlet. alot neat turn offs where people go fishing off the cross over~
bridges.

we  , just  the st. augustine area. [ north from cocoa beach. ]

just cross a~1a just a little south of patrick afb, & turn right over an
old draw~bridge. leads to drive in restaurant for boats. on the other
side is banana river & a road call "topical drive". private homes, until
your under the melbourne causeway. [ just a neat drive]

* the most impressive place to eat any where in fla.., is in jacksonville.
"clarks". [ if it isn't under water.] just go & you won't be disappointed.
it's mostly seafood. go hunger, very hunger.

driving down, charleston, wv. , the capitol building dome is made of gold.
we "hit" all the dairy queens on the way down.

gatorland is worth going. we used to take our boys when they were young.
& if you ever go to "alligator alley", do "wootens".

i am more of a college~football follower. the big ten network is doing
college sports right! the most impressive thing, i ever seen was after
usc beat osu, and the player stating football is secondary to becoming
a good person & reaching their potential. to me, that made coach tressel
a legend & the best role model to follow.

one time, i was on campus running errands & started talking to 2 kids
that were going to play next fall for osu. so i ask them to sign an old
program. the one kid stated he didn't even had a number yet. it was
ted ginn jr., & troy smith. { i really liked his story}. ted wrote out his
full name.

started my college career @ gainsville. had a friend that is a big miami
fan. well he lived there so i won't hold it against him. & a lady seminole
that i worked with 4 years. [ i think they will regret forcing
b. bowden out]. but my wife, & 2 nieces graduated from osu. a long
time ago, it was our first date. osu vs. a team up north. how long?
$40 for 2 seats, 50 yard line. they were big underdogs but won that
day. we ran into bo afterwards, let's jus say i felt sorry for the players
on his bus.

the horseshoe is the best college field in the country. & the scarlet
& gray are the neatest colors. we went to disney christmas 07,
& met alot parents from the spartans. [ also ran into some of the players
doing the studios. ]. earlier in the year, they were @ the horseshoe,
& they talked with great respect of osu band opening ceremony.

this is why they were looking @ me when i took their picture,

the oil spill is just sickening & awful scary. there isn't any sense not being
prepared for this!

speaking of scary, here's me before coffee,

& explain why my wife calls me...lil'grumpy, :rolleyes1
* i really just misunderstood. don't believe me? ask goofy.

disney has their princess:, here's ours,

the way i look waiting to go to disney,

& after getting there,

psst, that's my wife next to me.

& @ the greatest college tradition ever invented.

my wife's brother & family went to last year rose bowl.
he got her a program & the pin they made.

best of all the buckeyes are the sweetest candy ever !

oh, go blue?! don't you mean singing the blues?
however, not all is lost, your misery for some strange
reason makes me jump for joy, :yay:

( really, it takes 2 great teams to have the greatest game ever
play )

psst, don't tattle, but i still have a feeling or 2 for the gators!
( what's weird ...the coach 's wife is right up the road in frankfort
adena, in o-h-i-o. must has to do with the twilight zone ) also
the home of c. noble, gold~medal olympician.

We are transplanted New Jerseyans, and we live near Dayton. Washington Township is nearest to Centerville. We've been DVC members since 2003 and we root for Notre Dame!:cheer2:

Hi! We're new DVC Members (AKV) and we live in Westerville (suburb of Columbus). We had already planned a Disney Cruise for this year, so our first visit won't be until next year! My husband and I are both OSU grads, so always happy to see fellow Buckeyes!

we must be neighbors!

We've been members since 2004 and own at SSR & VWL.

I have a DVC license plate, so you might have seen me around :goodvibes:

We drive down each trip. It is a long drive with kids, but doable. It takes about 16 hours straight.

Huge Buckeye Fan

SSR since 2008, We'll will hopefully soon buy HHI points too. Going for our 3rd HHI trip end of June.

Since being members we have stayed at SSR (twice), AKV, BWV and BLT.

Loving every minute of it.

Fellow DVC'er from NW Ohio! There are a few others I have met on the board, met another one at our elementary school carnival.

Next trip is a GV at SSR for Thanksgiving(5th annual trip).

I am from NW Ohio area as well. Actually between Toledo and Sandusky. I have been a DVC member since 1998 which has given me plenty of time to acquire many 'add on' points...:cloud9:

I currently own at HHI, SSR, OKW, AKV & GCV. I will go out on a limb and state I will also be owing at DVC-Hawaii as soon as sales go open to us...:rolleyes1

I LOVE my DVC and over the past 12 years have taken too many trips to mention. I always go to HHI every year, WDW probably 2-3 times a year and try to take a cruise every year or two. I have also traded my points and used the previous II exchange group. I took my parents to Las Vegas and went to Bay Harbor MI (close to Mackinaw Island) using II exchanges...:goodvibes

Can I just say I LOVE my DVC membership enough....no way!!!!:cheer2::cheer2: I just got back from WDW-AKV-Kidani 2 weeks ago. We had a one bedroom and it was fantastic. This was our first time staying there and definitely see ourselves doing that again soon...

My next trip is the DCL Transatlantic Cruise bringing the Magic back to Florida after her stay in the Med. Then of course we have to add on a few days at WDW before coming back home...:woohoo:

Ohio DVC members from Y-town area. Heading down in 4 weeks. The kids do not know. Picking them up from last day of school and flying out of Pittsburgh 3 hours later for Star Wars Weekend.

Beach Club owners since 2005 and just added on.

We live in Gahanna and have been DVC members since 1999. Own at HH and OKW. Have added on 4 times as we keep taking the kids and grandkids with us and are always borrowing points. Love DVC and it is one of the best decisions we've ever made.

Hey everyone,
We live in Fairfield Township...North of Cincinnati. We became DVC members last April at BLT. We went there in December of last year and it was awesome!

Our next trip is 5/29-6/4 at BCV!! We're really excited to stay there and try out Stormalong Bay!

We just bought into DVC club last year and our first visit at AKV Jambo House was in Feb. of this year. Loved the savanna view. We have two more trips planned for Oct. 2010 and Jan. 2011. Have to make good use of those annual passes.:lmao: AKV is our home. We live south of Dayton in Springboro, but I grew up in Columbus.

It's so great to see all the DVC Ohioans! Thanks for the travel tips. 16 hour drive- really??? That isn't bad at all- we drive 12 hrs every year to the OBX so 4 more hours would be nothing to us. We have always flown but we want to do a split WDW and Vero Beach so we thought it would be best to drive down.

How do most of you go to WDW? We have been flying Southwest the last few times as they have had the best prices.

We always fly, I'm only 45-55 minutes from Detroit Metro. Usually fly Airtran, so much so a few of the FA know us(we always upgrade to business class). Though we did fly Spirit at MLK weekend, nabbed a $9 rate on the way home.

Already have AT booked for T-giving, watching MLK weekend airfare and need to start looking at spring break(we own at VB also and nabbed a Beach Cottage:banana:).
