DVC Occupancy Thread Part 2

We have a stay booked at AKL in KV 1 br for five people. My brother lives in the Orlando area, and might join us one night. This bumps our number upto 6 for that one night. I am thinking my 3 yr old can just sleep in the pack n play rather than a bed or he can hop in bed with my husband and I. Do you think it will be a problem with the hotel? I really hate to have to change our room for a possible one night. My brother won't need a magic band since he is an AP holder.

You exceed occupancy with six. You are permitted five plus one under the age of three. But if your youngest is three, you have hit your max with your family before your brother arrives.

No, it officially sleeps four (no sleeper chair). So you can only get either five or four plus one. You need a two bedroom there.

I am pretty sure if you check the reservation website that 5+1 is allowed in all the 1br except AKV value. +1 appears to be allowed above any adult occupancy (published or not) in any DVC studio or villa

This is a glitch in the computer system not a specific allowance.

Can someone tell me if I can legally stay in a 1 bedroom villa at boardwalk with 5 plus 1 child under 3?
Thanks so much for any replies

Deb & Bill you are the occupancy guru so I am now confused by what the Member services website tells me, specifically for BWV it lists this when I go to book:
Disney's BoardWalk Villas- 1 Bedroom Villa- Sleeps 4 – 5th guest can be accommodated, but please note that NO ADDITIONAL BEDDING, LINENS OR TOWELS WILL BE PROVIDED.

So based on this and jcbrush's scenario why cant they do 5 people over the age of 3.... of course bringing their own linens for the 5th person, and then an under 3 y.o. in the pack and play? What am I not seeing?

It doesn't say accomodates 6. It says sleeps four and a fifth guest can be accomodated. Not a fifth and a sixth.

But our room at AKV sleeps 5, since we are in KV not Jambo. So why can't we do 5+1? Can't I decide if my three year old is too big for pack n' play?

If your three year old is the sixth person, you need a two bedroom villa at KV. If your three year old is the fifth person and you have no others, you are fine at KV.

All guests age three and older count towards occupancy. And if you have multiples under the age of three, only one will not count towards occupancy.

So if you have quintuplets who are two, four will count towards occupancy and one will not.

It's Disney rules why you can't have a sixth person in a villa that sleeps five.

Not a glitch in the computer system, I have verified this at the supervisor level at MS, it is what they are allowing either by phone of computer.

Not liking it and, it not being fully published does not keep it from being current reality.

Maybe I should have better said it's a programming issue because it would take money, cost and effort to program the occupancy in the computer with occupancy that was different for one 1BR or 2 BR villa vs another. You get the same issue with the 2 BR units. I expect it to change at some point but it is not a formal decision to allow 6 in all 1 BR units.

Yes it is not formally published, and since CRO if not allowing these numbers I doubt it will be published to the general public since it would sow confusion, that I why I think if is only listed within the non public members site.

I just try to give people the reality of what the DVC site and what MS has stated (but not published), so they can make allowable informed decisions.

But i can have 4 people stay during the day 1st shift say 10am-6pm and another group of 4 6pm to 10am??

:)

It's also not an intent or decision they've made to allow it but rather simply a computer programming issue that should be corrected at some point. It's the rule of unintended consequences of the current computer system.

All I can suggest it that you call MS and talk to a shift lead, or call the QA department, it is clearly a decision that has been made, not an accident.

From what I can find out it's BECAUSE of the computer system issue, not the other way around which is the point I was trying to make. I think members should realize that it's something that can change in the future and there would be no recourse or reason for upset if it does.

Hi! I just discovered this thread!
I'm booked in a Value villa at AKV Jambo 1 BR this december. But I may be expecting. If I had another baby that would be 2 adults, 1child, and two infants.
I think I am understanding that one of the infants WOULD count for occupancy, and thus we could not stay in a value villa? We would need to change to a regular 1 BR. Is that correct??

(If that's the case that's fine... I have follow up questions about waitlisting that I will post elsewhere :) :)

Thanks!

I just tried to book a 1 bedroom value at AKV-Jambo for 2 adults, 1 child and 2 infants, and the system allowed it. Looks like you will be OK.

The stated occupancy of a value is 4 plus an infant, but the online booking system is currently allowing 2 adults, 1 child and 2 infants so it must to be OK. Guess you will find out for sure when you call to add the new baby.

Congratulations (if it turns out you are expecting). :)

P.S. FWIW, you have to have 6 people for the online booking system to reject you for a value category 1 bedroom, even if 4 of the occupants are infants. (Yikes)! Apparently it doesn't matter what the ages happen to be as long as at least one of them is an infant and the total number of occupants is 5 or less.

Thank you! I tried it also and it did appear to let me but I wasn't sure that if the computer allowed it that meant it was okay! LOL. I am interested in possibly trying to move to BLT if it turns out we have a new one, i'd like to have a more low key/close to MK time! But, I like that we are in a value and saving points right now!!! :)

You would be a family of four plus one under the age of three. You can stay in any villa that sleeps four or more.

How firm is the "sleeps four" recommendation when staying in most studio and one bedroom vacation club units? When my infant turns three, his siblings will be six. Will we be able to skate by for a few years or are we going to have to jump right into two bedrooms?
