Hi All, I am about to become a DVC member, buying VGF points in June :yay: I have a couple of questions. The first is about tickets. I already had purchased tickets for someone to come with us on a prior trip but they backed out. I decided to keep the tickets and roll them over to an AP for our next trip which is scheduled (mentally, not physically :rotfl:) for Easter of 2015. Now I have suddenly decided to become DVC. So, can I take the tickets I have, roll them into an AP and get the DVC discount? I'm assuming so but I just want to make sure it will be possible.

I have another question about managing points. This is all very overwhelming to me so I want to make sure I have this thinking correct...We are buying with a UY of possibly September (not sure but this is my thinking). So if we are planning a trip for Easter (april)2015 for 3 nights, a long weekend in either oct, nov or dec, and another 3 nights the following Easter. That first set of 2013 points will expire before the long weekend and we will have to use them for the Easter 2015 trip, correct? Then the long weekend and following Easter we will have 2014, 2015, 2016 points to use? We would probably bank 2017 and do the same in 2018 and 2019. I realize that is WAAAYYYY far in advance but I just want to make sure I have the logic down.

I am thinking a UY of September because the Easter trips I don't care where we stay, we will have a car, we will have parked ourselves like crazy and we like to spend 3 days on property to explore a resort and have down time, so any resort will be fine and it will be fun. For the long weekend in the fall we want to stay at home at VGF. It could be Oct, Nov or Dec. Would Sept be the best UY? I read the link about understanding UY, so I just want to verify that I did in fact understand what I read :rotfl2:

If you have a September UY, you can bank your 2013 points into 2014, and they will expire August 31, 2015. So yes, with banking, those points have to be used before that date, and if your only trip will be Easter of 2015, that would be the time to use them.

I don't know about your tickets and converting them with the discount, but it sounds like they could maybe.

Your use year doesn't matter for booking, just when your points are renewed each year. With a September use year, you could bank your 2013 points into 2014 and have double the points to use for trips that occur between Sept. 1 2014 and Aug. 31 2015. Does that answer your question?

You can apply the price of unused tickets toward a DVC annual pass.

Yes, I think that answers it. I think for me the UY matters just for the first year. If I had an April UY I wouldn't be able to use the 2013 points because they would expire before our first trip is planned.

Thank you both for your answers! I am VERY excited!

Yes, assuming the purchased tickets are unused. You may apply the value of one unused ticket per DVC AP (or DVC PAP) purchased. You will get a larger credit if you use the unused ticket to enter a park before you upgrade.

For more information on upgrading, hop over to the Theme Parks Board and look for the STICKY THREAD on tickets. The author is Cheshire Figment, who is Disney CM with lots of Guest Relations experience.
