I saw that MVMCP party tickets are on sale. $74.55 pp!:scared1: That is even for November...December is even more! I seriously need to consider if it's worh it...:sad2:

Anyone else feel this way?

Yes especially since that is an additional ticket. I know for sure I won't buy in advance and take a chance of horrible weather. Did that once, never again. It was cold and raining all night. Lots of things were cancelled and the fireworks made so much fog in the rain you could not see them. Total waste of a lot of money.

I was planning on attending the MVMCP party for the first time this December, I was really looking forward to attending all the special holiday activities but not sure if I want to pay that much money in order to attend. Like JDirrim asked "Is it worth it"?

IMHO, if you're using Magic Your Way tickets for your trip and the CP tickets will be your park admission for the day, it's still a decent value. You can enter the park at 4pm and the lower party crowds mean you'll get to experience a LOT of attractions while still catching many of the unique party events.

But if you have an Annual Pass--thus park admission is already paid for--it's much more difficult to justify the added expense.

Agree with Sammie on the weather issues. Cold and/or rain can really put a damper on the event.

Some people swear by these events and pay for them every year. Our family did the Christmas Party back in '04 or '05 and haven't returned since.

We haven't been to wither MVMCP or MNSSHP for several years, now. Prior to that, we went to one of them most every year. But we've been priced out.

I'm very glad we've seen both and still recommend that people do them at least once if they can, but IMO, it's not worth it anymore for those of us who have attended several times. We went mostly to watch the special parades and fireworks. The last few years, we've been catching the special fireworks from the TOTWL or the CG deck.

I would not mind the cost if it hadn't also gotten so crowded. For some reason we always seem to end up on a night that is either sold or cast member discount night and is packed. I would only wait and buy them closer to the event. After our experience with weather I would rather not go due to it being sold out then take a chance and have a repeat of cold, rainy weather at that price.

Can you purchase tickets for everyone staying in your room on your DVC reservation or just those in your room that are members/immediate family?

Good advice! I think I will wait until it gets closer. I would HATE paying that much money to have a horrible time. There are I think 3? Parties the week I am going (11/7-15). I will wait until the forecast comes out and go from there. There is not enough "free" hot coca and cookies to make being cold and wet worth it :lmao:

If it's meant to be it will be :)

We used to do the Christmas Party every year, about 7 yrs ago we noticed that the prices were going up at a crazy rate and they were taking things away every year. To us it was just not worth the extra expense anymore. This year we were there During Christmas week and saw all the shows and even the parade during our day visits to the Magic Kingdom... The Parade was always something special for us to do especially when the tickets were only 24.99 and you got a lot more. To spend 75.00 bucks on this event for each person in your family makes no sense to me anymore..

Just bought tickets for our family for Nov 12th. Will be our first time. Prices were steep but this may be the only time we travel close enough to Christmas to see it! So hoping it's worth it! Was told over the phone there was a limit of 6 tickets per member.

Last Sept, it rained like crazy on my MNSSHP day. We left EPCOT at lunch and I went back to my room and spent an hour on the phone with CM that assured me my best strategy was to attend in the rain and make the best of it.

I assured her that my best strategy was for them to replace my tickets for a party later in my visit window and for me to watch the Savanna in the rain from my AKV window that night.

Like I said, took about an hour on the phone, but they did move my party night.

We're booking today for our party this Falll. My DW's advice: book the first party in our window so we have time to reschedule if it rains. We'll use the same strategy for MVMCP.

I'm intrigued to read their policy on rain days now.

I was told that if parades, fireworks and shows are cancelled they will give you a ticket for a later date. For us that did not work out as we were leaving before the next date. However if the parade goes even with them pulling horses, tin soldiers etc. they don't consider that a cancellation. Fireworks even if not visible due to rain, the same thing.

They bumped me to the next party date before the current party started. Mainly because I was insistent and didn't take no for an answer.

So long as you are polite and keep asserting that your needs haven't been met, they aren't supposed to terminate your call without your permission. It took about an hour of politely refusing to be satisfied and refusing to acknowledge that the answer I got, no, was sufficient to end the call until I got what I wanted.

I simply wasn't going to take a 6 yr old and an infant out into the pouring rain at night.

If Disney keeps notes about customers, mines likely a doozy. That said, I was polite the whole time. Polite but insistent.

If they really do keep notes about customers do you think they will move your party if it rains again?

Like I told them on the phone, the next party date wasn't a sellout, I have young children, and we spent $200 to participate in this event.

By not accommodating me, it costs me $200 in wasted tickets. OTOH, accommodating me costs you nothing.

The issue here isn't feasabilty, it isn't actual or opportunity cost for Disney to reschedule.

The only issue is customer service. Disney stakes its reputation on customer service. This is your chance to prove it.

Ultimately, that's exactly what they did. Since then, I've spent $28,000 on Poly points. I'd say keeping their customer happy paid off for Disney.

We have attended both and they are a must do at least once. Having APs - hard to justify the cost. This year we are going with many first timers and will be purchasing them again. It will be a while (when another grandchild comes along?) before we attend again (if we have APs). I need to read the rain policy.

Policy is no rain checks, we have been rained out for MNSSHP and MVMCP. On the MNSSHP night we checked with guest services inside the park and they told us no rain checks. Later we found out that after we left they did had out tickets for 1 day MK admissions. We contacted Disney again and we were told no rain checks.

For the MVMCP rain out they gave us MK 1 day admission tickets as we exited the gate.

:earsboy: Bill

Thanks Bill. Will be purchasing them anyway and hoping for no rain/downpours!!
