DVC & Moderate Resort

Hi,

I currently have a reservation for BWV's in Sept. for Wednesday - Saturday nights. I looked up WDW website and saw that there is a great deal for passholders for the moderate resorts, saving nearly $50 a night. Now, I'm wondering, should I save my points for Friday and Saturday night and just split my visit 2 days at BWV and 2 days at a moderate resort. My choices are Caribbean Beach Resort, Coronado & Port Orleans. I'm leaning towards the Caribbean Beach Resort because it's in the same area of BWV's. I'm only staying in a studio at BWV's, so will it be much of a difference in accomodations? I've done split stays before but I lucked out and got into my second room right away. I didn't have to wait until 4p check-in.

I'd appreciate any feedback for those that have stayed at the moderate resorts. I've only stayed in the deluxe or DVC resorts.

If you are asking if you will ba as happy at moderate as the BW the answer is most likely no... The rooms themselves are not that much different as far as the quality although Deluxes are bigger and do have a differnt layout. The major differance is the grounds and you will not find the same type of amenties. If you are looking to save points then this is a good way...

If you'll have a use for the points at a later time, I would split the stay. It's pretty painless. September is usually a little slower so you'll have a better chance of checking in early. We like to check out different resorts if we can anyway.

Last time we did this, we left a pool bag with Bell Services when we checked in just in case the room wasn't ready when we were done with our park visit that day.

I like split stays. They not only allow you to save money, they allow you to see more resorts. The big drawback is the actual move. Some people are bothered by the packing and unpacking (I think this is especially true for families with children.) But for me, the moving is no big deal. I check out in the morning, leave the luggage with the bell desk to move for me, go to the park we've schedule for the day, then go to the new resort and check in. No bother.

As for moderate vs DVC, if you don't care about the indoor/outdoor hallway thing, the rooms just aren't that different in my book (again, if you have kids, the extra few feet of room might be more of a big deal.)

Thanks all. I don't have any kids, just my husband and me, so the move shouldn't be too bad because we already pack pretty light.

(I'd go for Port Orleans - they are all fairly close but none of them have Boardwalk type access - you are driving or taking a bus from any of these resorts - POR has a boat to DTD, though and really great theming. Its really three resorts in one).

You'll discover full beds (but you might be able to get a King, we've had kings in moderates before), less square footage, one midrange sit down restaurant, more counter service options, a pool slide, and very spread out resorts (in the DVC world, think OKW instead of BWVs).
