DVC Mike Live from BWV/SSR (3/7-3/15/09)

You made me homesick with that great picture of the OKW marina!

It is very wet, raining, and grey in Indiana today. Thanks Mike for you pictures and report. Keep them coming, I am living vicariously through you at the moment. Now back to work for me.

Thanks for the THV pics. And awww, there's my SSR home.. :cloud9:

That was really cool what you did for Jillpie! :goodvibes

Thanks, love your updates, sounds like you're having a great time.

Hope you don't mind, Mike, I made one of the pics of the BW my computer wallpaper at work. It's 38 degrees, gray, and misting here. Yuck. That pic definitely brings me to my happy place. :lovestruc

In the beginning, I was pushing my DW to get up every morning so I could be at a park at the rope drop. We'd hit a park every single day. I almost needed a vacation after my Disney vacation.

I typically spend 4 weeks a year at Disney (although this year and last year it's going to be 5 weeks). When you spend so much time here, and when you don't have any children, going to the parks and riding all the attractions becomes less urgent. You begin thinking, "oh, if we miss this ride we'll just hit it the next time".

Our Disney vacations have become a relaxing retreat from the stress of work. I very much look forward to them!

I've had one trip like that so far and look forward to many more. We'll be emptynesters in a couple of years and that is how i plan to travel.

Enjoying your report so much!! DH and I love to tour the way you and your DW do. We only plan our ADR's, the rest is a "lets see what we feel like doing today" kinda trip.

Enjoy the sunshine and the magic of WDW!!

Cyndi

Thanks for including the photo of the BWV playground. We just changed our ressie from BCV to BWV in July, and I was worried about my DD having SAB withdrawals, but once she saw your playground photo, she is now very excited to stay at BWV!

Looks like you are having an awesome trip - what a fun thread! Tiger :)

Tonight we took the boat over to DHS and had dinner at the Hollywood Brown Derby.

I had the "Blue Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with Potato Crust, green cabbage slaw, dijon mustard and remoulade sauces" appetizer, followed by the "Grilled Atlantic Salmon on soft mascarpone polenta with gorgonzola, balsamic glaze and Sicillan olive tapenade". It was very good.

Are y'all doing the DDP?

That certainly sounds delicious! I had a home baked pizza, not in the same league at all!

I'll say it again, your pictures are awesome!!!!

Funny, I just came back to your thread to ask you that question, and it's already answered!

I've been talking to my DH all day about you Mike, and fantasizing about traveling to Disney as much as you do.

So we've been asking each other questions like, I wonder how many days you can spend at WDW using 1000 points wisely? And how many points do you think we'll get up to some day? (We have 400 now--150 at BWV and 250 at BLT. We've only owned for a couple of years.)

In DH's fantasy he wants the deluxe dining plan though!

Enjoy your trip!--we are!

We also plan to take that attitude- The "Oh, it's okay we didn't get to do that, we'll be back..." Again, I say we plan to- LOL With our two oldest DS' able to kind of roam on their own AFTER we have the "Family at Disneyworld" vacation for the first time... I imagine it will actually work out for us!
Even with our 3 younger ones, they will also love the resort for the pools, tennis, volleyball, basketball, etc and activity centers- DH does golf but he won't be these first couple of trips... at least not this first one in April - more than likely also not in July just due to the heat alone... but I am sure he will eventually add golf as his excursion while I enjoy the spas and the pool-
& Yes, being in a similar business to you, Disney is definitely where we plan to "escape"- I just need a whole week where I am not looking at numbers! LOL
Another reason DVC is great, I won't be watching price tags while there (at least not as much-LOL)
Well, again the pics are gorgeous and I am thoroughly enjoying peeking in on your continued reports- I feel a bit closer to our stay next month!
Enjoy your stay!

The external rehab at BWV is now working on the Standard View rooms.

Here's what I love about your reports Mike... you're not afraid to show real people at work making Disney magic & when you do, it's not in a complaining fashion. I respect and admire the workers at Disney for without them the place would be nothing. (Many of them do it for the love of creating the magic too.)

Mike, are you KIDDING ME??!! YOU FOUND MY SON!!!!  OMG, I am tearing up here.:lovestruc We haven't seen him since Jan. 4th when he started the college program, we miss him SO much!! Hi Pat (I'll send this to him tonight)!! This is the NICEST thing you could have ever done for me, I can't thank you enough. It is so great to see him. I'm taking my middle son down for a week in April, so we can see his "Great Movie Ride show". I cannot wait. He texted me and said you were "very cool"! Thanks again Mike, YOU ROCK for finding him for me.:thumbsup2

OMG, it's making me cry. MIKE, you're the best from another mom. My DD just got her "purple folder" for the Fall. Think I'm going to cry some more for Jillpie...that is the nicest thing you could do for a mom missing her kid.
