There is a person on ebay who has several auctions going right now for the special 9/11 Mickey Flag Pin that was given to DVC members. What I am wondering is how one person could get their hands on so many of these pins. I know that at one time these pins were very desirable. Did a cache of them suddenly appear? I am thinking about purchasing one or more pins from this individual. I just want to make sure that these pins are still tradeable and that I won't end up with another bunch of worthless/untradeable pins.

Any comments?

According to Pin Pics there are

23 members trading
81 members wanting

So....that makes it a pretty good trader.

My sister never got hers in the mail and she's been a DVC member since 1991. DVC told her "Sorry, we don't have anymore." Wonder where this seller got them. :(

I don't know, but I count 31 still for sale on ebay. And that doesn't count the ones that he/she has already sold. Sounds very fishy to me.

I just checked. This person has already sold over 150 of these pins on ebay in the last 30 days!!! Makes me very hesitant to join the buyers.

Kathie-no wonder your sister was told there were'nt any left. The e-bay seller got them all. Something smells rotten

I saw this sellers auctions and thought the same thing TC. I wouldn't mind having that pin but I don't think I will bid on one of their auctions.

Are you sure they are the authentic DVC flag pins? There are at least two similiar pins - one sold in the parks and the Disney Store pin.

ralphd:) :) :)

They are described as the special DVC members pins that have the special tribute stamped into the back side of the pin.

I have to call member services this week.......I think I'll mention it.

I gave my sister one of mine.

I mentioned the pins to the DVC reps on board the Disney Magic this past week. They were at a loss to explain the presence of so many of those pins for sale.

Hey guys,
Something is definitely fishy. I got an unsolicited email from someone this past week asking if I was interested in purchasing one of these pins. The price was $12.00 which I thought was fair, however when I inquired about shipping costs, they want $5.00 for shipping one pin! My husband (Manny) thought that was ridiculous and emailed them back asking why the gouged shipping price, did they live in Sri Lanka? (If you know my husband, you'll understand this sarcasm) He went on to say, why not just charge $16.00 for the pin and $1.00 shipping? They emailed back "OK, the pin is $16.00 and shipping is $1.00" I had to intervene at this point and thanked them for the opportunity but politely declined the offer. During the sparring emails, this person actually said they had sold "over a 100 at this price to other members and only had 5 left". Apparently they searched pinpics for people who had this pin on their want list. How on earth does a DVC member get their hands on that many of these pins? I've been told by several people that this pin was pulled because the head honcho manager dude of DVC never approved it. He got his panties in a wad that he was bypassed in the decision-making process and wanted the pins pulled.
Sounds to me like someone at DVC got their hands on the leftovers and is making a killing. I'm glad I passed on the purchase.

I also received an e-mail from this seller and who ever they were was very rude. They also pointed it out to me that they have sold over 75 of these pins to other satisfied customers.
How could somebody get a hold on that many of this pin? I doubt they have that many memberships to the DVC.

Recently, I was in OKW and I saw these pins for sale in the general store. I am not sure if they are the exact same as the ones sent out to members or not, I didn't really check thoroughly.

There is a similar pin that is available everywhere, but it does not have the special message on the back of the pin. You can also tell that it's different because the stars and stripes are larger on the "rack" version of the pin. Unless you have the pins side by side, it is difficult to tell the difference.

I was told that the pins were pulled because they had writing on the back. Supposedly that is not allowed (perhaps a Disney policy).
