First let me say that this is not meant to upset anyone, I just wanted to share a funny thought I had as I was speed dialing for the umpteenth time on Sat. AM.

After reading some of the reasons why so many choose NOT to go on the DVC cruise, I thought I would share my thoughts here.

I told my dh that DVC Mgmt. was probably laughing till their sides hurt at the response of so many "crazy DVC folks" (ourselves included) who responded so well to their brilliant marketing scheme to fill resorts (before/after) and an entire ship in just a few hours. All of this while the recent hurricanes were still in the news.

We did get booked and even I wonder about our judgement from time to time, but we are empty nesters and the timing and money are on our side this time (we will never have enough points!). In fact we even discussed that at our age time may not be an unlimited resourse so lets go for it now. Just wonder if others had the same thoughts.

Oh, I don't think there is anything coincidental about the dates of the cruise. I've never been on a Disney Cruise (someday!) myself, but everything I've read here says that the cruises only run at partial capacity during that timeframe. One can logically assume that bookings will decline to some degree due to the 2004 hurricanes. So, it was a no-brainer to use DVC to guarantee a full boat (at premium prices, no less) during this slower period.

I'm not trying to predict that this will actually happen, but it wouldn't surprise me if they cooked-up a second cruise for the same timeframe "due to overwhelming demand..." ;)

Wow, great prediction. I'll bet my Dec reservation at VWL that you are right ::yes:: .

PS, just kidding about betting the reservation ;) .

So call me crazy... we came home from our 9/9 Wonder (left from Port Everglades, canceled CC, canceled Ardasta Gardens excursion) and promptly made a reservation for the 9/4 sailing BEFORE it was announced that it was DVC.

Even though Frances ruined our beach day at HH prior to the cruise and our CC day on our cruise, I never once gave a thought to NOT going at that time. Great prices, fewer kids, and we get to use Labor Day for one less vacation day used up. Even if we get in a hurricane again and spend all days at sea - I'm still not home taking phone calls about computers freezing up or payroll checks not balancing!
