DVC merchandise on Ebay

Here's a question for those of you who have been around for awhile and also for those that frequent the stores at the resorts.
I am bidding on a white "member" hat on Ebay. It has only two mountains on it ( doesn't the original Vacation Club hat have three mountains). Do they still sell these hats at WDW and about how much do they cost? It says Disney Vacation Club on the front and I am not sure what the back says, if anything?

Yes, the DVC logo is now only 2 mountains. I think these white hats you see on eBay were given out for free on cruises at the DVC receptions. The back should say "Member". The resorts sell DVC hats, but they also have the resort mentioned on them.

Sound right folks?

On my cruise in April, they gave us four of those hats, one for every member of our party at the member reception. They were free. I have seen them selling for upwards of $35 on ebay.

I've also seen these hats for sale on eBay and have bid on a couple myself. I haven't seen them go for $35, but I have seen them go as high as $25.

The 'regular' DVC hats onsite cost around $18, I believe.

I won 3 of the white hats and one blue hat (blue at a previous meeting) answering DVC questions last week. It was a really dumb group of DVC members at the Tuesday OKW member update and no one else could anser the questions. It was like taking candy from a baby. Go to these meetings. Got pins, a cup caddie and a DVC member scrap book also. In all about $100 worth of free stuff.

We went to one of those when we were there last month. However the host only asked a couple of questions and was awarding 'gifts' for the furthest away from home, etc.. The did a raffle instead.. We ended up getting the DVC 10th anniversary pin and a mouse pad. My Dad was with and really wanted a hat, but we didn't win the raffle for that. I was all ready to answer the 'tough' questions but, unfortunately, at our meeting we didn't get asked... Oh well. Those meetings are good for having the chance to get 'stuff' though, aren't they?

Originally, DVC's logo had three mountains and a little red boat.
They dropped the little red boat shortly after opening and they had 3 mountains for a long time. Now, they just have two mountains, as you know. I only bid on stuff with three mountains.

So what is DVC trying to say?? That the boat sank and the mountain was removed as part of a budget cutback?

Sounds good to me, or, they had to bail out of many projects.

I had heard the missing mountain was used as fill for BWV. It did disappear about that time right? Can not help you with the boat, although Doc may have it.
