DVC Member moving to Orlando area

Hoping to find a job in the Orlando or Tampa area, not necessarily working for the mouse. It's soo hard to do from here (Chicagoland area) and not be living there. Temp agencies won't help, and it's hard to get reg. employers to look at your resume and take you seriously. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Yep, I have done it a lot.

You have to be flexible so if your son only wants a Studio Standard View at BWV Good Luck! (just go ahead and sell LOL!)

If however, he's willing to take a one bedroom anywhere the odds go way up!
This is good to know, he owns his own business (St Petersburg) down there, so when he stresses out I was hoping to offer him a quick break with my DVC.

Did you try using www.indeed.com .

We moved to Windermere December 1st. I can watch the MK fireworks from my window. I have been a DVC member since 2000 and own 850 points because we use to come down three times a year from Michigan. I agree you should hold onto your points for now, we are, and see how things work out before selling. We plan on using our points to bribe family members to come visit us.

Yes I have used every job board there is. There are jobs over there, it's just that the employers and (temp agencies) don't want to take a chance on offering jobs to you if you don't already live there because they are afraid you aren't going to actually move there if they offer you a job.

We moved here from Chicago and both have part-time jobs at Disney, and live in Celebration. We have 450 points and use every one of them and wish we had more. We still stay at Disney with friends and family, enjoy mini "staycations", and use Vero Beach as out beach house without the work. Don't sell until you see how you use them :)

Are you semi retired, and you did this as a "new life" for your retirement years? If so how are you liking this? Our parents are both in their 90's so we can not do something like this as of yet... But maybe in the future!

We retired from our careers in Illinois and moved here because we have been DVC members for years, love coming here, and our oldest son and his family were living here. Our part time jobs at Disney are our "fun jobs" and we both love it :). My 90 year old mom moved down here too, and loves where she is. Everything worked out great

OP - Welcome to Orlando!

We have been DVC members since 2008 and we added on very quickly. Ended up with over 1600 points and were spending a lot of time in Orlando. We got tired of having to deal with booking so far out and not being able to come on last minute trips that I started thinking about getting a home in Orlando. After last year's winter in Dallas (6" of snow in late Feb), I had enough and decided that I could sell about 1100 points to help with getting a place in Orlando as a second home. Then we could have our stuff and come on our timeline without worrying about storage of items (used owners locker and then climate controlled self storage) in between visits.

With the current prices on DVC points for resale, if you don't need them all, I would sell some. Renting works for the ones you keep and don't use. We are going to Aulani for our third 2 week trip this May and use our points for that and for getting a grand villa on special occasions. We live in Dr. Philips a stones throw from Bay Hill and can see the fireworks every night from our balcony. On New Years Eve, it was great because we could see several going off at the same time.
