DVC Member Lounge in other parks

I'm sure we'd all love access to a lounge in every park, but since DVD (Marketing & Sales, not DVC) pays for it, I don't think it's likely to happen anytime soon. FWIW, I would not like dues to pay for these.
If our dues paid for lounges, then white card members would be entitled to access. But given that the Epcot lounge is a DVD marketing tool, I guess my point is moot.

And if I read the FL timeshare law correctly, things seen as perks, dues can not be used to cover things like this.

They would be considered an incidental benefit, even if it allowed all owners in.

It would never happen, but I KNOW. I would really love it. As it is, I fear the day they shut down the EPCOT one. It's only a matter of time. It comes up for debate every year as I hear-tell.

If Parks has a better use for the space it'll happen. DVD gets the space because that's a neglected corner as they redevelop. Probably won't last forever.

So does that mean that our dues are paying for the lounge in Epcot? If so, why haven't I heard one member complain about it? And if our dues aren't paying for the lounge, I'd really love a lounge in each park.

No, our dues don’t pay for the Epcot lounge. DVD‘s marketing budget pays for it, and as PPs have said, as soon as the Parks team decides that they have another use for that space, poof! it will be closed.

I agree it would be lovely to have a DVC lounge in every park, but unless DVD decides that would bring in more direct buyers and Parks administration decides they have some unused space to rent out to DVD, I don’t see that happening.

Huh, never knew that. Seems like an odd marketing and sales strategy as you have to be a member to use it and I can't recall ever having been approached about an add-on while in the lounge. But hey, what do I know, I'm not in the marketing business.

ETA: Agree 100% on not wanting to pay higher dues to support the lounge.

DVD uses it to market to potential new members. "As a member of The Club, you'll have exclusive access to the Member Lounge in Epcot!" It's not one of the major perks they dangle in front of potential buyers (well, maybe it's more important now that there are no APs). If you've already been in the lounge, then obviously you meet the necessary ownership criteria (blue card).

Makes sense to help reel in prospective newbies. I wasn't thinking of it in that context. We have used the lounge, often. I just didn't recall it having been part of the spiel back in the day.

Well, if your user name indicates you became a member in 2014, it wasn't part of the spiel at that time. The Epcot lounge opened as one of the DVC 25th Anniversary bennies in 2016 and was originally just going to be available during the anniversary year. It's been renewed each year since then but is understood to be "temporary."

Well, that certainly explains why I didn't recall it as part of our original sales pitch back in 2000! Thanks for the additional info. :)

And just to add to that - it was only going to be for the year. But Parks has not had anything they needed the space for. The EPCOT lounge walks a thin line of "Parks is spending too much right now and doesn't have impending development for that space" and "DVC finds it just worthwhile enough to pay the relatively minor fee for a few CM's and some snacks".
