My sister and brother-in-law are joining us at Beach Club Villa in late February. They would like to golf at the Osprey Ridge golf course. I did a search of this thread for golf in but came up without answers and hope someone could help me out.

1. Since they are staying at a DVC resort on points, do they qualify for the DVC discount. Or do I as the DVC owner need to actually golf with them? :scared1:

2. Disney is advertising free club rental for resort guests. Does this also apply to DVC members who are already getting a rate reduction?

3. Disney is advertising free Taxi to and from the golf course. Does this also apply to DVC members.

4. Who should I call to get definitive, accurate answers to these questions? I am afraid that if I call Member Services they won't have a clue.

THANKS

The golf discount is a card the member must buy, then a discount is available based on time of day and season you are playing. So no, guests cannot use the discount unless a DVC member who has purchased the card is playing with them. The DVC discount card is good for 1 year. If you only plan on playing 1 round of golf, it probably is not worth it.

The free ride to the golf courses apply to everyone.

Discount card costs $50 plus tax and lasts a year. Member who purchases card needs to be one of the players for discount to apply.

Discount for after 10 a.m. rounds is 40% off resort guest rate, for earlier rounds 25%. If only going to do one round the DVC discount is not worth it because you have to acheive enough in discounts to make up for the $50 cost of the card to actually end up paying less than normal resort guest price. Also, if you want to do rounds before 10 and will play more than once, Disney has available to all resort quests a different discount where each person can buy a two round pass and its price per round is actually close to that 25% discount you get with the DVC card, making it a better bargain than DVC for early rounds because you don't have to buy the DVC annual card.

Any free club offers are inapplicable to DVC Member using the DVC discount.

Free taxi or resort courtesy car transportation to and from courses.

Though Osprey is a very good course, there is construction going on now around some of its holes and its 18th hole is no longer there; instead you play one of the holes from the previously retired Eagle Pines course. The other courses are also very good and have no on-going construction.

If you are flexible with your times and if you are by yourself, give golfnow.com a try. My last trip I arrived just after the summer rates went away and the fall rates started. The resort rate was $89 I believe. I found a time around 10:30 for about $50 or so. I just checked for the next few days and while the rates are not discounted as much (Magnolia is $110) , I guess because it is considered high season, it was discounted only about 12 percent but it is better than nothing. Sometimes you can get hot deal rates if you can play at the last minute. You pay a non refundable $1.99 booking fee. The hot deals are payable in full at time of booking. The normal times are payable at the course. If it rains bad the night before or during the day of your time you can cancel without penalty but you still lose the booking fee. I had to cancel one time because it rained sooooo bad the night before nothing was playable. The earliest I could call was 8am and they took care of me with no problem.

All the Disney courses are availiable on golfnow. Just select Orlando in the search box. The Disney courses are listed first.

Hope this helps.

depending on how many are going. Buy the card will pay for itself after one round.
