DVC Member Exclusive Event: Thanksgiving Dinner at Walt Disney World

Disney and especially DVC is a for profit business. Don't expect a deal from DVC.

The price for this event seems high but it is a buffet and DVC has to pay for the venue, hire a kitchen to prepare the food, rent the tables, chairs, and decorations. Pay for the bar set up and rent the costumed characters, pay for security, entertainment and CM's, all on a holiday.

It all adds up.

My biggest concern is the "first-of-its-kind" part. I don't know that I trust Disney to get this right the first time around...

The private breakfast buffet with Anna and Elsa is only running $65/person. And those arent even being hosted by a Disney division,

$90 for a meal? No thanks! I can see Minnie and Mickey for free at the mixers and i get drinks and a snack and an ornament!

Dues pay for the mixers, this is a separate event. From what I have been told, DVC has to pay other Disney units for what they provide. They may get a discount but there is still a cost.

Nothing at Disney is free, not even for other Disney divisions.

I read some reports that the dinner was okay but no big deal.

Any reviews from DISers who attended? :surfweb:

The review I saw on Facebook was not good. The reviewer was very disappointed. And from what I read, I would be too.

I tried to post a link but it doesn't work. Sorry
I asked her to come over here and elaborate on her experience. I'm hoping since she's on DISboard Facebook page that she's also on here.

Food was not good. It was very boring and plain. No decorations or music. Only characters were M&M Mouse. There were no fun and games as promised except for at the end where they went around to each table and offered them a choice of Monopoly or Scrabble. No matter the table size, 2 or 18, they got one game. Totally ridiculous. We should have kept our initial reservations at Cape May Cafe.

Just 3 weeks ago I was at the CR for a convention. For a reception Mickey and Minnie were there in their winter outfits for two shifts of 1/2 hour which seemed consistent to other conventions I've been at so that sounds similar to what is the norm for their appearance. But most people were commenting on being pleased with the food although we did not have a full sit down dinner. I'd believe the CR could have produced a better menu if DVC had ordered it and it's very sad they didn't do that nor fulfill very well on the promise of entertainment and games. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought an advertisement of games would mean being given a board game. How strange!
