DVC Member Cruise ~ August 24, 2015

We just booked this cruise yesterday - only hubby and I this time. No kids or grandkids. Can we handle it?? This will be our 10th Disney cruise so we will be platinum for our November 27th cruise on the Wonder sailing from Galveston.

Congratulations and Welcome!:welcome:

We have a son and family in Houston TX! Where are you?

Tom and I both enjoyed Maleficent. How about you?
We are in Fort Worth - by Dallas TX - just two miles away from the grandkids and closer to the one in California! So far we love it here - the locals thought they had a bad winter this year but we thought it was fine - ice and sleet....by the afternoon it's all melted. In Missouri, we could have snow that never melts all winter ! We loved Maleficent - wonder what the movies will be on our cruise. My son-in-law and I had fun on a family cruise seeing Wreck-it-Ralph late one night when everyone else was asleep! We also liked the movies on the pool deck at night. SO excited about this cruise!

We just booked last week - just the two of us too. We find that we like doing just what we want on an adult only cruise, but the one with the grandkids was the best one so far ! This is our first member's cruise and first one at Gold Level. Counting the days.....

I do not know if I can wait until the cruise to see Cinderella!

GrammyGee - we might have to hook up on the ship. Sounds like two sets of grandparents with no grandkids. We have 7 but have cruised with only two or three - two teenagers and a baby. My husband and granddaughter would always go to the late night movies. Now he'll have to go alone. Just how many times can you see Iron Man on one cruise? I'm excited for this cruise. We had some points we needed to use. Hope it's lucky - I won a trip on the last DVC cruise we were on. We live in Minnesota so I know what you mean about the winters!!

Add us to grandparents who are cruising without family, grandkids. We have been on 4 cruises with one son and his family, and they were great, but life and activities are keeping them closer to home these days.

I gave seen so many great movies on DCL cruises. On the January 2013 DVC MC, my Sister and I went to the late night showing of Lincoln. On last year's MC, I gave up main dining room to see Frozen again. We've seen all of Disney's Nature films, Maleficent also Nightmare before Christmas last October.

Looking forward to meeting DVCers and the special entertainment they have in store for us!

How wonderful that you won such a great prize! Bingo? Or some other way?

My granddaughter and I did the late night Nightmare Before Christmas movie on the Fantasy. She dressed up as Sally and my grandson was Jack. The characters kept saying they were seeing double.
I can't figure out how to add a picture so you could see how they looked.

I won the trip at a drawing during one of the DVC presentations. It was a 1 week stay at any of the sister companies - but it couldn't be Disney. We chose Daytona Beach. Spent a week at a great hotel on the beach.

Have to remember to always take a chance!

Tom and I are both Platinum, but I have 2 more cruises than he. I have been on 13 DCL cruises. I went on 2 Member Cruises without him. We both have been on an EBTA and a WBPC cruise. Once I get new knees, I hope we can do each one of them again in upcoming years.

My husband loves the Bingo and on one cruise won the final jackpot and it covered the cost of the whole trip - cruise, airfare and WDW ! We were going to WDW in the middle of winter to get away from the snow a few years ago and they had super cheap last minute rates on verandah cabins on the Dream so we put a 3 day cruise in the middle of our trip. I was sitting in the adult area reading when he walked up with a bag of $100 bills !

My grandkids are not happy that we are taking a cruise without them but a Members Cruise eats so many points I think this will be a one time thing. So happy to have all the special activities and especially two Castaway Cay days - we never get off the ship in Nassau anymore.....

Hey Everyone!
I have been so busy I have not had a chance to pop in and say HI! I hope everyone is doing well! WELCOME all new members to the Cruise! It will be here before we know it! I know I have started my diet! We had some very nice weather yesterday - high in the 80s! Felt just like Summer.
Let me know how you all are doing and what you are up to - I am trying to finish my Fish Extender gifts - but my life keeps getting in the way. I hope to wrap them up this week-end! I really don't have much left to do so if I can get to them this week-end I should be able to get them done. Then I can move on to my magnets (for me) and my t-shirts.
I was going to do a BOG breakfast - but after seeing the price for what you get - I decided not. Just does not seem worth it to me. I would rather stick with lunch. I was kind of sad at the route they took for breakfast. Still searching for a cheap rental - anyone having any luck? I have a SUV right now for $278 - but would really like something a lot lower. It is still early. They should come down in price.
Hope Everyone is having a Great Week!
Lynn

I've been so busy working but will try and get over here in the next few days to catch up. Welcome to all the newbies!

We saw McFarland on our last cruise and we both really liked it. It tells a good story.

We are so busy packing things for our move to NJ, I will be gone from Ohio within 2 weeks, we probably will wait a bit to see Cinderella, but I do expect it to be good! What did you think of the Frozen short?

Bobbi,

Are you moving to NJ for good? I know you have mentioned you have property (or family property) in NJ. Loved the Frozen short, really cute.

Hi Lynn,

I started Weight Watchers (online) just to try and get back to where I was before starting nursing school. I packed on 20+ pounds in two years (initially 20 the first semester, got 15 off and then yo yo-ed back and forth, finally adding a few extra AFTER school was over). So far down 9 pounds (enjoying foods, trying to stay on top of tracking). I just don't want to have to buy new summer clothes.

I agree about the BOG breakfast, I looked into it but the prices were crazy. We'll be there for lunch the Saturday before the cruise.

I had a rental through Budget last week for the weekend before the cruise (mid-SUV) for less than $200 but I didn't reserve and now the prices is UP!! I'll keep looking for a deal. I like Budget since they don't charge for extra for dropping at the Port (picking up at MCO).

We were so busy with our move from the Midwest to Texas the past 6 months that we just now got around to seeing Maleficent ! Lots of catching up to do now that were settled in.....good luck with your move - hope it all goes smoothly !

Grammy, I haven't seen it yet, so don't feel bad. School put my movie seeing on hold and finances didn't help, lol. So now I have it on reserve at the library (free).

I'm finding the new layout confusing, I'm seeing messages on different pages, confused.

We already have the NJ property, we own it with my sister. Once our Ohio home sells, we plan to buy a home in FL. We will be snowbirds.

My mom is 95, lives in a senior residence in NJ and Tom & I are both originally from NJ which is why NJ is preferable to both of us, rather than Ohio. We both have relatives and friends in NJ. Ohio has been our home for 22 years, and we have good friends here. We hope they will visit us!

Bobbi, sounds exciting. I dream of moving closer to Disney but don't want to move away from the grandkids yet.
