DVC Member Cruise ~ August 24, 2015

I have friends that host as well. A few years ago I worked for a local high school marching band and we sent a bus down to invite the recruits to our thanksgiving football game. We had a decent size group come and a local veterans hall heard we invited them to the game and invited them over to the vfw for thanksgiving game.

Great! We sometimes see buses when we pick up the recruits, and wondered about what/where they were going.

How had your week been? I am sure you have been busy with all your appts. I hope everything went well. That is so nice what you do for Thanksgiving! I am sure that brings you great joy and I am sure they enjoy it also. Very sweet of you!
Not much going on here - getting ready to go to the grocery store! Exciting fun! A tad bit chilly here today - winter is coming if you like it or not. So looking forward to the cruise and warm weather. No more humming birds - have not seen one since 10/02. I thought they might stay longer since they arrived so early - but not the case. They leave about that time every year. I still have my chipmunk - he has been very active the last couple of weeks.

Lynn, do you really only have 1 chipmunk?? We have to catch and relocate them at times because they are so numerous in our back yard! Saw a nuthatch the other day at our feeder. We still have some sunflowers full of seeds, so plenty of chickadees and a few goldfinches.

I am going to a new doctor this coming week. I hope to learn if my walking can improve. I am using my cane more and more.

Then Friday we will head to Cape May to see mother and other friends and family.

We had three chipmunks - but I think the neighborhood cats have taken care of them. I saw two earlier this summer - but mostly just see the one - I call him skippy. We have acorns in our yard - so we get a lot of critters. I saw a 6 point buck this morning in my yard! I think he had just finished his breakfast. My DH has seen several deer over the years - a 12 point once - but this is the first time I have seen one. They do enjoy my flowers too. I believe we have a skunk - I keep smelling him - thank God I have not seen him and hope I don't or my dog!
I hope your Dr appt goes well. Do they have any idea what is causing your walking problem? Have they given you any options? I had spinal surgery 8 years ago. Didn't fix the problem - but helped. I hope they can help you.

I have foot deformities and over the years my legs have been affected. Glad you got some benefit from your operation.

About chipmunks, well the good thing is we do not have neighborhood cats! We do see deer footprints in the snow, but we seldom have sightings. Every year we do get some frogs in our little pond.

The Red Cross is having a tea for families who host. Something new! Tea is next Tuesday, the 28th...will your friends be there? We will actually be in Cape May then! The head of the base will be present! Looking forward to it.

I don't post much here on the DIS. I am really looking forward to this cruise. We are staying at BLT before and after the cruise. We just bought some points and had to use them. LOL. Anybody going to be at the Top of the World lounge before the cruise? We are going to fly in on Friday.

We aren't sure of our plans (park visits) yet (so far away) but if we are not in a park that evening we'd love to check this out. As DVC members are we permitted to go to the TOW lounge or must we be staying at BLT? We are at AKV this visit (and our home). We are planning on arriving Friday to get a weekend of visits to parks (hopefully our dd will be with us for the weekend).

DVC members staying anywhere on site can go to the TOTW lounge. I've met fellow cruisers up there for my last 2 Member Cruises. You are not able to park there, you are told to use Disney's transportation.

You may have to show your DVC Member card, but your MB is sometimes all you need to show, they check where you are staying from that. We always have our DVC card just in case.

One reason that I enjoy going to TOTW to meet is because it is a short cruise, and getting to see others on board is difficult. This past August the only time I did see some fellow Dis'ers was in the lounge, and then seeing the fire works from up there is a bonus!

The night before the cruise works for me, but I am open to suggestions. We have 3 nights at VWL.

Looking at this year's times, fireworks began 10 PM....so the meet up could start any time from 8:30 on.

This year, I did not get up until closer to 8:45 and we were able to get seated with a Disboard family, but there were not many empty seats around the place.

"THINKING" of getting in on the fun on a Member Cruise for '16...
I know this is VERY VERY EARLY but here are my 2 questions:
1. First opportunity to book for '16 cruise will be in mid June, 2015 correct?
2. It was mentioned on these boards, that August is not "etched in stone" for Member Cruises and it "may change for '16". Is this correct? Wasn't the Member Cruises in the past October?

For those cruising in '15, HAVE A GREAT TIME!
