DVC Member Cruise ~ August 24, 2015

There has been a little bit of talk on the other social media (which shall not be named for fear of getting banned) but no definites. Another cruiser mentioned about 'planning too much' since there are so many things to do that you don't know about until you get on board. I'll post again about this. So you are basically looking at the first CC day, correct? I typically get off early to do the CC 5K and then spend a day relaxing on SB. But those who are planning to really relax and not cram it all in may be up for this. I'll put it out there and see what response we get.

I'm in the middle of my final semester of nursing school and don't get on here as often as I'd like. Trying to keep the various lists going on both social media places for those not on the other. I don't want to miss anyone/thing.

Bobbi, someone from the Alaskan Member cruise pm'ed me about their FE and wanted to make sure I wasn't participating since I had posted in that thread. I explained I was just 'watching' for ideas for our member cruise. Very sweet to take the time though and message me.

We actually are on Wonder right now in Nassau! Beautiful day but some hard rain showers too.

Another idea that was mentioned on another cruise I did. I have not participated in doing this, but someone went through DCL to get groups at the same dinner tables.

Others have planned mixology or other adult tastings for groups.

We have linked our reservation with others to sit at dinner together. Have made amazing friends that we have traveled again with.

I have also organized private mixology groups.

I forgot you had a cruise! I hope it is going well! I LOVE the Wonder! We had a great time on it when we went to Alaska.
The bread was Great - it is all gone! I gave some away to friends. Amazing how fast it goes. I have made two batches and freeze it - but it goes fast. I need to make some more. I got some cranberries to make home made sauce - will be doing that this week also. I used to not like it - but as I have gotten older - I like it now. I make two or three batches and freeze it.
Our little kitten is doing fine - he is getting so big - He went to the vet last week for a shot - and he has gained over a pound in a month! They tried to trim his nails - boy that did not go well at all - they got the back done - but there was no way they were going to be able to get the front done - not without knocking him out. He wanted nothing to do with that! He is so nice most of the time = but don't mess with his paws! He is still not getting along with our other cat - she wants nothing to do with him. She keeps her distance from him - but he likes to go and mess with her. Well you can just imagine how well that goes! He really needs to learn to leave her alone - she will come around - it will just take a really long time. He is getting along with the dog - so we have made progress!
Can't sand the porch this week as it keeps raining. I am about 80% done. I have the railings left to do and a little bit of the landing. I was wanting to finish this week-end - but they are calling for more rain. I killed my sander - had it over 25 years! I am using DH sander now. Don't tell him - but his works better than mine ever did! Guess I will have to get me a new one. I really want the porch done so I can decorate for Halloween. I may end up decorating and finishing the porch later.
Has anyone else been interested in breakfast?
I booked a room for one night after the cruise. I am still hoping I can book airfare and extend the stay for the week-end and not have to drive. I booked Animal Kingdom - Got Club Level (again!) - figure if I am staying just one night =- I wanted club level. If I get to fly and stay the week-end - I plan on trying for Bay Lake after the Cruise.

By the way, we both enjoyed Alexander's bad day a lot!!

Glad little kitty is making progress.

We have not booked either end of the MC, we will when we get home. We may be selling some points and we need to be sure which contracts we can do without.

No other interest in breakfast....yet.

On this cruise CC 5k people met at 8, left ship at 8:30.

Today we received the remainder of Candy Exchange participants. Good mix, Mississippi, TN, NJ, Ohio(2) and AZ! We kept groups small, since it was a themed Halloween cruise kids did have trick or treating!

I booked a room for one night after the cruise. I am still hoping I can book airfare and extend the stay for the week-end and not have to drive. I booked Animal Kingdom - Got Club Level (again!) - figure if I am staying just one night =- I wanted club level. If I get to fly and stay the week-end - I plan on trying for Bay Lake after the Cruise.

I booked and got AKV Club level for the 28th! I figured out that I still have enough points for the vacation I promised my DSis.
Hopefully, we will be living in FL but as snowbirds, in August we will be heading back to Cape May....I think after the CL night, we will head to Hilton Head for a few days, then back to NJ.

Not much going on here - just rain, rain and more rain! I did decorate my porch for Halloween. Gave up on being able to sand it any time soon since it keeps raining. Aim for after Halloween before winter. May end up becoming a Spring project. Made my cranberry sauce today. Will freeze most of it. Other than that - not doing much today - just taking a day off. Hope you are enjoying your Sunday.

Lynn, imagine my surprise when a studio was available!

I love whole berry cranberry sauce. I suppose you are getting ready for Thanksgiving!

The 2 week vacation was wonderful! We still have some candy from the exchange as well as the Mickey Rice Krispie treats we got from the G/P Castaway Club party.

As we drove through TN coming home, we saw some beautiful reds and golden leaves! 2 weeks ago everything was still green.

This week we have dentists, doctors, car appointments, things to catch up on before our next trip to Cape May to visit mom.

Enjoy your Sunday, too! We met friends at the OK Cafe in Atlanta for breakfast this morning. We hadn't seen them in nearly 2 years, lots to talk about and good food to enjoy!

It has to do with a pre cruise or post cruise stay at Club level at AKV. I and Lynn have the night of debarkation, and Lynn and Pat have it pre cruise.

Pre cruise, I will be at VWL for 5 nights. We have not stayed there in a long time, and we are looking forward to it!

How about you? Have you booked WDW before or after the cruise.

I cannot wait, we've only ever stayed concierge at the Grand Californian in 2009 (you could book the hotel then on points since DVC wasn't open yet there) and we had extra points from just joining in 2008! The kids loved it and so did hubby. Not sure if any kids will be with us the weekend before the cruise (they aren't cruising with us) but looks like one so far is coming (this is why I booked the one bedroom for that weekend).

Neither are our home resorts, and it may be a busy weekend, but I thought I'd try at the 7 month window. Meanwhile I'll book at SSR, and see how the construction at Disney Springs is going.

If HHI works out for you, and I hope it does, perhaps we'll see you there! We will be heading to NJ after the one night in AKV. We think 1-2 nights at HHI will be good.

Glad you joined the conversation! My mom lives in Cape May, so we visit often. My Sister and we own a house together there too!

The US Coast Guard training facility is in CM, and we often have recruits as guests on Christmas or Thanksgiving. The Red Cross organizes the program, Operation Fireside." We will participate this Thanksgiving.

I have friends that host as well. A few years ago I worked for a local high school marching band and we sent a bus down to invite the recruits to our thanksgiving football game. We had a decent size group come and a local veterans hall heard we invited them to the game and invited them over to the vfw for thanksgiving game.
