DVC - Magic Express Luggage Tags

Hi - I am hoping someone can help reduce my anxiety. We are heading to BLT on March 14, and have not yet received our Magic Express Luggage Tags. My DH called member services over a week ago about another issue, and was told that they would be sent out shortly.

When do DVC members typically receive them? When we've booked cash reservations in the past, we always had them before now. Since we live in Canada, the snail mail takes even longer. Does anyone know what to do if they don't arrive in time? I don't really want to have to worry about claiming luggage at Orlando Airport with 2 million other Canadians travelling for our March break!:scared1:

Even if the tags don't arrive, I believe you can stop at the ME counter in the Orlando airport and give them your claim tags and they will get the bags for you (as if you had the yellow tags on them).
 

There was a mix up w/ our tags and I realized about a week and a half before our trip that we never got our tags. I called MS and they saw that the country was put in as the United Kingdom instead of the United States, so they never printed out. The CM was very helpful, printed them out and overnighted them to us so that we had them before our trip.

10 days before our last trip (feb 2010) I realized I didn't get my tags so I redid the request online and they came overnight 2 days later.

However, I wasn't really impressed with them this trip. Our plane landed at about 6:45 and we NEVER got our luggage. We waited and then fell asleep and woke up at 12:00 am -- MY dh went down and got it. The kids had to sleep in their clothes. I guess next time I'll pack an overnight. The 5 prior trips we never had a problem.

Then on the way home Delta lost one of our bags. But it was delivered within 12 hours. That was the 1st time that happen in like 50 trips. So you never know!!!
 
On our first trip (Toronto-Orlando) we didn't use the ME luggage tags ... not sure why. We easily picked the bags up, dragged 'em to the ME check-in, and after directing us to the right line everything worked great.
One thing to remember is that Disney's ME takes a huge proportion of the luggage that comes through MCO and diverts it immediately to its system. That means there is less coming around those baggage carousels.
 
We to live in Toronto and are DVC members. Our past December trip Magical Express sent our luggage tags to the wrong address. When I called they told me not to worry about the tags and just go to the magical Express desk with our luggage receipts upon arriving in MCO. I did that. They took a copy of our luggage receipts and Magical Express staff went and hand picked our luggage and delivered it to our room as normal. Exceptional service.
Don't worry, either way Magical express will take care of you. Enjoy!

No worries.

You can still have ME take your luggage. Just bring all your baggage claims to the ME desk. They will send someone to the luggage claim and pull your bags. Then they will put your luggage with the tagged bags and send to your resort.

We had this happen to us last October (no ME packet in the mail) and everything worked just as if we had the tags on.
 
We've had bad luck with DME bag service (okay really bad luck with the whole DME service.)

We don't use our tags any more when we use DME (which isn't often, the extra 5 or so hours spent coming and going to MCO isn't worth the "Free Ride") we grab our bags, and walk them to the desk and they ride over to the resort with us under the bus. No more waiting overnight for DME to deliver bags.

The one time we used DME, we arrived after 11pm. We knew we where getting in late and asked DME if getting our bags that night would be an issue, "Oh no, just let the hotel know when you get there you want your bags as soon as they get there." So we got to our hotel, and we asked be called when our bags got there only to find out, that the last bag delivery to the resorts is at like 10pm, so if you get in after then your bags won't show up till the next morning. So we said please call us as soon as our bags could be delivered in the morning.

We ended up calling the bag service at like 8:30am, and they said "oh your bags have been here since 6am (or 5 or something like that) but where waiting for you to call since you asked NOT to be disturbed."

Thank you everyone for the reassurances. We called ME, and were told that our tags were sent out without our province listed on the address. They are sending new ones out. Happy to hear that if they don't make it no big deal.

I'm sorry to hear about everyone's disappointments with ME. We've used it the past 3 times we've gone to WDW, and have never had problems with our luggage not making it to our room in a timely fashion.
