Dvc lounge closed...no set date to open

I wonder if something has come up that is precluding the lounge from reopening without more extensive modifications...

Yeah... We've never seen folks hang out for too long.
We’ve seen people stretch out across a couple of chairs and snooze - before they changed out the furniture a few years ago. Very annoying to finally get up there and not be able to find a seat.

a cast member told me that 100% of the Dvc lounge was out of the Dvc sales marketing budget. Not sure if the lounge ever truly encouraged enough ppl to buy direct to justify its existence (from a business angle). Was also told the lounge was an easy 7 figures to run a year, and the elevator fix was also a 7 figure fix.

If I were in charge of Dvc sales I wouldn’t keep the lounge running but I guess if depends on the #s. Thankfully I’m not in charge of sales bc I love the Dvc lounge, particularly the soda machines!

Can’t wait for the MK lounge to open…

All seating is assigned and has been for years, so not being able to find a seat is impossible now.

They were making you wait downstairs until seats were available for your party. I would imagine it will be the same when they re-open.

That's believable. Figure at least 5 CMs x 10 hours x 365 days x $20/hour is already $400k. I'm sure it's higher than that. Even more substantial is probably the rent they pay to Epcot to use the space. DVC gets charged for that, but in a greater sense it's Disney moving money from one pocket to another.

Let's say the lounge is a flat $1M per year. In DVC terms, that's about 5000 direct points sold at $200 each. Or 416 points per month...around 2-3 contracts per month.

The thing about perks is if they're going to successfully drive sales, they have to be something people actually want. Lounges meet that criteria. (Unlike 10% off dining and backstage tours, which don't really move the needle.)

For as little as 3 average-size sales per month, the cost of the lounge is covered. And they can accurately market it as a perk to hundreds-of-thousands of current owners...plus millions of potential owners.

Honestly I'd be shocked if a single Moonlight Magic night cost signficantly less than $1M. We're talking hundreds of cast members, premium entertainment, all of the free food and ice cream they give away.

I believe the former, but the latter is WAY out of the realm of reality. A new elevator, in the same shaft (with modifications as required), including the car, guides, and electronics, is about one-tenth of that number.

So can you not go into the lounge now without buying the new 'extra'?
There will be some sort of character meet which is only part of the paid extras. Also, "priority" access to the lounge. Non-priority access will still be part of the standard Membership Extras.
