DVC License Tags

It isn't often that I encounter a DVC license tag (meaning the one on the front of your car) when I am driving around the town I live in. But it has happened twice in the last week. I had a car pull up behind me while driving on our beltway. They immediately passed around me and pulled in front of me. I wonder if they saw my DVC in their rearview mirror as I did theirs.

And, when I stopped at BJ's to get gas, I saw another car with a DVC tag pulling into another pump. I started to go over and strike up a conversation, but worried they might think me a bit weird  .

I really got a chuckle and sense of enjoyment seeing both of these tags. Does this happen to you guys often, other than at WDW?

I've never seen one...but in Missouri we are required to have a legitimate license plate on the front and back as are our neighbors in Illinois.

I'll bet if you had struck up a conversation at that gas pump, you'd have found someone who wouldn't have found you weird at all.

I don't think anyone would put that plate on their car if they weren't happy about their purchase and pretty much "into" WDW in a big way.

We are not supposed to put our DVC tag anywhere near a state issued tag and we have them front & rear here. My two DVC plates are in a drawer here. Although I do have a DVC oval sticker on the back and DVC is on our vanity state issued tags.

VWL DVC & OKW DVC

We have our DVC plate hanging in the garage on the wall in front of where we pull our car in to park. New York is also a two tag state so it's not on the car. But we keep it as close as we can.

I've never even seen a DVC plate before, but then I've only been a member since March of 2002. Did this use to be one of the "gifts" that were given as part of the initial purchase (like the backpack and print today)? Or did they sell them in the stores at the DVC resorts? (I've looked around in the stores at both BCV and BWV, and don't recall seeing one.)
...but worried they might think me a bit weird...
Well of course they would, but in a "kindred spirit" kind of way! :teeth: :wave2:

I don't have the DVC tag plate you are talking about. But my regular license plate on the rear is DVC BCV.

Mine was a gift. It says DVC vacation club member with the symbol in the middle. I think I received mine in 2001. It was after I purchased at VWL. But I was an owner at the BWV's so I'm not sure if it was for purchasing VWL or if it went to all members.

Mine was a gift too that came after I bought into DVC. Others have received tote bags or litho prints or other gifts.

I do have to confess...the first time we stop after crossing the Florida border (we drive), off comes the front license plate and on goes the DVC license plate. It works great as we often get "Welcome Home" from the guard at VWL. :)

I think it's our license plate that gives us away!! :)

my DVC plate is on my back deck of the car so if you look in my back window you can see it. In NJ we have front and back plates also.

We received our DVC plate, along with a tote, when we purchased in Aug '00. We have our plate in the front but I can honestly say I've never seen another in my hometown or general vicinity and in PA we are allowed to put them on the front. My "Mickey Mobile" has our DVC plate on the front, the "Been there....done that" one on the back, my Mickey head antenae topper (presently the Mickey ghost) and my Tinker Bell hanging from my rear view mirror.

When we bought earlier this summer, we only received the tote. Minnesota is a 2 plate state, so my dw and I decided to get personalized plates. I wanted DVC BCV, but she wanted WDW4US.

Our new plates came in the mail yesterday, and I just put them on the Explorer. They read...

WDW4US

DianeSchlict, I live in Savage, you will probably see me driving around Cty Rd 42!!!!!!

Granny: That is a great idea. Now I have to remember to bring a screwdriver (not the drinkable kind) on the trip.

Our tag was a gift, I think from our OKW purchase, but I know that they have been sold from time to time, too. Mine is getting a little worn looking and I would love to replace it. Will have to check on our next trip and see if they are being sold.

Interesting how many states require tags on the front and on the back. Glad mine doesn't and leaves me flexible to use my DVC one.

Granny, love that you switch yours out. Great idea.

I haven't seen any DVC tags recently, but think that next time I will certainly strike up a conversation at the gas pump. Who knows, I met one of my closest frinds on the DIS Boards, maybe another friend would come from the gas pump. :happy1:
