DVC Lead Guest Question

Hello! I’m not sure where the correct thread would be for this post so if it has to be moved I apologize. My husband and I have rented DVC Qin the past but this time we’ll need 2 rooms as my parents will be joining us. I know the rooms at the BWV don’t connect but my hope is that we could be next to each other or at least close by. The problem is that we’re going down to check in on a Sunday and my parents won’t be there until Tuesday. We were going to have both rooms start check in on Sunday to increase our chances that we’d be together.

Can I be the lead guest on room 1 with my dad as the 2nd guest and then have my mom be the lead guest on room 2 with my husband being the 2nd guest? Does the lead guest have to be present to check in or just someone assigned to the reservation? We’re hoping we can check in to both rooms and then when they arrive on Tuesday, we can switch the 2nd names on the reservation. Does this make sense? I know I’m rambling haha sorry. Just trying to figure out the best way to do this. Renting a 2 bdrm is almost 2k more than 2 studio rooms so that’s out. Any help would be great!! Thanks everyone.

You and your parents can do online check in for both rooms. No need to switch names around. And there's no need to book more nights than necessary for your parents as that won't increase the chances of being near one another. Just have the owner(s) put a "traveling with" request in for both reservations and make that the only room request.

Online checkin has nothing to do with room assignments, which are made a week or so before arrival. It simply completes the front desk checkin procedures such as linking the credit card and setting PINs for room charges, so that when your room is ready, your room number will show in MDE and (hopefully) you'll get a text. As above, just have the owner(s) you're renting from add a "traveling with" notation to both reservations, and when you do online checkin, leave the room request section blank.

Just be aware that BWV has - in my experience of 20 years - been lousy at meeting room requests, including near each other. In 20 years of staying at BWV 80% of the time, we've had ONE request met.
