DVC Ko Olina (Hawaii) Scale Model Details

Thanks!

When I first heard that the Disney Hawaian experience was going to be on Oahu, I was greatly disappointed. Now that I see this, I think the resort will definitely be a destination in iteslf and not part of the big city atmosphere that I dislike about Oahu. I guess I can see myself spending 5 nights there before I head out to one of my favorite outer islands!:cool1:

Thanks for the link. Loving it! The Marriott Beach Club has their casual dining resturant right on the beach and we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner out there. Nice to see Disney looks to be doing the same.

The sunsets on that beach are amazing!

Thanks for the link! I am really excited about this resort because we LOVE Hawaii but I am getting more & more concerned about the affordability for us though since the articles all keep saying "480 2-bedroom units". We only own 250 points and that is not enough for an entire week even at WDW in a 2-bedroom unit. That, and we're only a family of 3 so we don't typically need a unit that sleeps 8 or 9 people. I was really hoping for a selection of unit sizes so we could get our usual studio.

all dvc resorts are reported in 2-bedroom units.

pretty sure there will be studio and 1-bedroom too - but lock off (like BLT) not dedicated (like AKV)

Yes BLT is still quoted in 2br equivalents even though we know there are lock-offs.

So it is safe to assume there will be studios and 1br units, the pictures of the model do not show if there are places for GVs.

Rough figures show it will have 1+ billion dollars in DVC sales.

Thanks! I wasn't that excited before about a Hawaii DVC, but after seeing the model I can't wait to stay there!

The model & pics look great! Hopefully we can get a reservation sometime in 2012.

Thanks for posting the article on the new resort. We just got back Sunday night from Maui. What a wonderful trip and has really ramped up our interest in staying at the new resort.

joining in for more reports and discussion....

will def'ly be saving points as it gets near.. I wonder hows the points going to be...:scared:

We are very excited about the Disney Koolina Resort because we'll finally be able to drive to a Disney property :thumbsup2

The pool area will be the best on Oahu! No other hotel/resort can compare to the proposed pool model.

And the thought that my kids may be able to have their birthday parties there with maybe a character or two will definitely make it a hit with the locals.

Aloha,
Jen

You know.....that is actually funny to ponder!

You live in a complete upside down vacation world compared to the rest of us!

My guess is that the points will be priced at the going DVC price-per-point rate throughout the resort's active sales period -- in other words, the same price per point as whatever other DVC resorts are in active sales at the time.

It's too early to say when Ko Olina sales will begin.

As far as the point chart is concerned, my guess is that Ko Olina will be the most "expensive" DVC property in terms of points per night in each season. Also, my guess is that there may be fewer seasons than at WDW.

Thanks for posting! Beautiful resort! I hope I get to see it in person some day.

Not interested in owning though. I'm sure the point costs per night will be the highest we have seen and I also think the MF's will be the highest also. The prices for anything in Hawaii are higher so it only makes sense that these will be also. The MF's for other timeshares in Hawaii are higher than their counterparts in the coninental US.

Thanks for posting this. The resort looks like it's going to be amazing. We will be taking a trip there for sure.

I wonder how difficult to book there in 7 months mark. I would love to do add on in a few years, and I love Hawaii, but if the MF is high it does effect my final decision.
