Trip Report Day 2
Baton Rouge to Tallahassee
Cast of Characters
Me DVC Jen
DH DVC Ian
DD Kylie (age 15)
DD Emily (age 11)
Our 5am wake-up call was right on time. We got up, dressed, packed up the suitcases again. loaded everything onto a bell hop cart and went down for our complimentary continental breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised to find a few hot items on the breakfast bar and the coffee was wonderful.
After breakfast we loaded up the car and we were on our way by 7:45. Traffic was very light. The weather was pretty good. It was a bit foggy, but not bad at all. We did notice one car just outside of Baton Rouge that had a license plate that said LV DSNY. Of course I had to wave at them. LOL They took the next exit. I had to laugh and wonder if maybe I scared them.
We passed through Mississippi and Alabama with no problems. Our first and only stop of the day was at the Florida Welcome Center. We checked out all the literature. grabbing a few pamplets/booklets that interested us. Then we had a picnic lunch at a picnic table. We noticed there were at least five other families around us doing the same thing. and they were all from Texas. After refilling the car with gas in Pensacola we were on our way once again.
I alternated between sleeping, rubbing Ians shoulders and eating chex mix. LOL Gotta love that road trip food.
The girls watched a movie and played a couple rounds of go fish. Eventually Emily (our social butterfly) couldnt stand it any longer and HAD to call her friends. Thank goodness for cell phones and great coverage.
We pulled into the Fairfield Inn in Tallahassee around 3:15. We checked in..again enjoying another free hotel room. This time courtesy of an instant compensation award Ian got from work. We unloaded the car and chilled for a few minutes. Then we walked across the parking lot to a Taco Bell and had dinner.
After dinner we went back to our room for about an hour. We alternated checking email with watching some TV. Then we changed and headed down to the pool for about an hour an a half.
Swimming and soaking in the hot tub was great. Then it was time to head back up to the room for showers.
After showering and getting clothes set out for the morning, I wrote out some thank you cards for year end teacher gifts.
We are going to relax and watch TV for a little while before turning in early again. Another 5am wake-up will be here before we know it. Tomorrow is Orlando and the Doubletree Castle.
