I can't believe, that I bought into OKW in 1996 at $62.75 per point and into BCV in 2002 at $80.00 per point

The prices I paid look so good, with DVCI/first 6 resorts currently at $89.00 per point and DVCII/SSRS-maybe going to $100 per point.

Good for you!

We were at WDW in 1995 and I knew NOTHING about DVC. We would have bought in immediately.

Instead we waited until we learned about DVC while staying at the WL. It makes me sick just thinking about it--not buying in when prices (and incentives!) were so much better.

Oh, well. Nothing to do but look ahead at our 50 years of DVC vacations :)

i bought preconstruction BCV in 2002 not 2000. I was confused.
I actually paid less than $80 per point, with the incentive. I think around $75 per point, but not for sure.

I agree, DVC was the best thing we ever did, besides buy our house! We haven't even used it yet and I can already say that!

I wish too we would have known and looked into it years ago. Of course that may not have worked at the time anyhow.

One of the best things I did was buy the DVC after my husband passed away. I swore we would never let a year go by without spending at least one year sharing the magic of Disney together as a little family. The kids grew up so much in the past 4 years; my now 20 year old would rather vacation with his friends. He thinks it would be a great idea if I gave him my points one year so he could take his friends (dream on).

The only drawback is that people think that since we're alone, they need to come along on vacation with us. Some are welcome, some not so much. I do love shaking guests and spending time alone at Disney. I've only got 89 points left for 2005; maybe I should plan a trip just for me and not tell anyone about it; how lovely that would be.

Susan, you point out the beauty of DVC -- it changes to meet our needs. Your family vacationed together -- right now your son wants to be on his own (although he'd use a few points) but someday soon he and his family may be back to enjoy WDW with grandma. Now, you can even think about that special alone time vacation. We can make DVC whatever type of vacation suits our needs.

At the rate things are going, in about ten years people that are buying today will be bragging about the bargain they got "way back in '04".

I bought in '97. Don't recall the pp price, but it didn't feel like a bargain to me then. Does now....but not then.

We bought OKW just before it sold out in 2000.
Soooooooo glad we didn't put it off until we analyzed the death out of our decision. Sometimes you have to make a decision with your heart, not your head. The DW and I made this decision with our hearts knowing that we can go or let one of the Kids have some time and are much happier for it!
Empty nester at 45, Grandfather at 46, now 47 and I love to go to Disney with just the wife for short trips a few time a year. Can't wait for my granddaughters first trip. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

boy you are young grandfather.....so when are you taking the grandkids to WDW?

I agreed with everyone DVC is a great thing to do for oneself, one family and friends - it is pretty great place even without the theme parks - with the theme parks it can't be beat!!!!

Best thing I ever did? Maybe in the top 10 but can't say it was the best. Considering all of the dumb decisions I made, I'm certainly glad it's not in that group.;)

I think we're gonna bank our points one year and get a GV so our kids can bring friends. Although that's a little scary to think about.

Well although I agree that DVC is great. I think the best things I have done were asking my wife to marry me and having our two children.

I have let my kids use my points. Last summer my DD and her friends (who had all just turned 21) went to BCV. This summer my 18 yo DD and her friends went to BCV. My 20 yo DS will probably go after all his friends turn 21.

No regrets here either, except for moaning about not purchasing in 1992 when we first heard about it! We love sharing our DVC trips with friends and family. In October we are GVing again with a group of 12! (yeah, we are nuts!) Have a 2 bedroom reserved for December, but no one is coming with yet, so it might be big waste of points.

I just passed ROFR this week at 73 on BWV. I already feel I got a bargain with the new prices at $80.:teeth: Who knows what I'll be saying in 10 years(I'll probably say, why didn't I buy more points).
