Since the subject was included in this months Email Members Clubhouse, I thought I'd touch on it here. This is short term inventory within II. It's usually things that are off season or where there is an excess of inventory. II will sell much of this OR give it up for exchange. DVC members only have the option of exchanging. In the past you could get this for a studio, now I suspect it will be according to the points table for a studio. There can be some real gems there for those who can plan short notice or travel off season.

Dean,

I didn't get this. This short-term inventory is something additional/new? These items will be listed separately somewhere?

Thanks. You are the timeshare Guru.
:p

The list is on the Member's Only site. These are resorts that have not been requested as of 60 days in advance and II is happy to provide incentives to use these locations. It's all about inventory.

International
Canada - British Columbia
Columbia- Santa Marta
Mexico- Nuevo Vallarta , Puerto Vallarta

Domestic
Colorado- Breckenridge, Vail
California- Olympic Valley, Palm Desert
Florida- Miami
New Jersey- Galloway
Nevada- Stateline
Pennsylvania- Lake Harmony
Utah- Park City
Virginia- Virginia Beach, Williamsburg

II has always had short term inventory and it has always been available to DVC members. This is not new, it was just addressed in the Clubhouse email I got tonight. All you do is call DVC and they will check what is available. It is within 60 days of travel.

Oh, yes. I do remember reading something about this. It has a special name...is it the "Flexchange" exchange service? I vaguely remember something about this in the disclosure guide to II. I will check out the member site, too.
Thanks, again! This is a great thing to know about...as much of a planner as I like to be, there may also be that opportunity for a more sponatenous getaway.

If you can fill me in on the general procedure in booking a vacation say in the summer.... I would be booking in Sept for the following summer.

What steps do I take.

What has been your experience in using this part of our membership?

It sounds like a great way to see a lot of places using our points!!!!

Thanks for the help.

do you know where you want to go?

www.dvcmember.com

these are in the World Passport Collection

then call Member services remember this is 3 then 2 (not 3).

they are pretty good at suggestion. they will try to get what you want - but Interval International is an exchange company - they can't get you what they don't have.

you can ask MS what is availability and what season it is - at the place you want to go - then you decide if it is worth the points before you make the decision.

for feedback on the resort choices join
www.tug2.net
you can use the discussion group without joining - to read the reviews you must join.

These must be reserved at 60 days or less to fit into this category. You won't do much for summer. The best place to get summer is places like Orlando (but can't do with DVC), Williamsburg, rarely Gatlinburg, ski areas and the Caribbean and MX. Regular II members can frequently get these weeks for $199-325 total with no exchange fee extra, that's one of the reasons I think DVC should explore other membership options with II.
