Did anyone listen to Lou Mongello's WDW Radio podcast from April 6, 2008.

There is a segment about DVC. From his show notes:

I also want to bring you what I can best describe as the Ultimate Guide to the Disney Vacation Club (DVC). I am pleased to be joined by Michael Collier, Quality Assurance Manager for Disney’s Vacation Club, who spends some time with me not only answering some frequently asked questions, but explains the process, cost, point system and benefits. He will also help clear up some of the misconceptions and concerns, explains what happens once you step inside one of the kiosks located around property, and so much more. It is an in-depth look at all aspects of the DVC, and why the Disney Vacation Club might be right for you and your family.

This played like a commercial more then anything I've heard on a podcast before. I was very surprised.

It sounded like Lou was supposed to not know anything about DVC but always had just the right probing question to ask, just like on an infomercial.

I found it to be very misleading and didn't talk about any of the realities of owning DVC. If I didn't know better I would think that park admission was included and that you can go anywhere anytime.

If you listened to the show, what are your thoughts? Am I off base?

I agree. The DVC spokesperson did not mention all of the DVC resorts. He also kept saying for an initial buy in of $16,000, you get 50 years of paid vacations at todays rates. This is true, however there was no mention of having to purchase park tickets. I honestly don't remember if he even spoke of the annual dues at each resort. This was truly a disservice to DVC and what it truly offers to prospective owners. The lack of information was alarming. Usually Lou provides a much better interview.

Thanks for the validation. As I was listening to the program I was shocked frankly.....I never saw Lou as a shill, but this is how I saw him. He goes way down in my book. He has gotten so very nice interviews of cast members recently, maybe this was the cost.

I didn't look at it that way at all. Actually, I am one of theose people that knows absolutely NOTHING about the DVC and was always afraid to walk up to one of the little stations in the parks to ask a few questions, as I thought I would get roped into some long spiel that I wouldn't be able to walk away from. I think he said at the beginning that the point of it was to ask the questions and FAQs that people have but might not have been able to ask themselves. I found it very informative and actually just ordered the DVC DVD.

It's really sad that you guys have to turn something that was meant to be educational and helpful into a name-calling rant against the host.
:(

Thanks for posting -

so did you get the feeling that park admissions was included?
Did you understand that the cost of maintenace fees are at the current rate will be 2 1/2 times the initial cost of the buy in?
do you feel like you can make reservations at any resort in DVC with only a 1 or 2 month notice? No trouble at all?

All I'm saying is that it could have been just as informative with a little more of reality thrown in.....

maybe my shill comment was off base....but I was VERY surprised and disappointed. I really like the show......I took it very personally. maybe my mistake. maybe I've missed the point of his show.
