We started doing Disney 2-3 times a year, so I started looking at DVC. I have too many questions, so I'll just jumo in:

Main question:

When my aunt joined her incentive was 5 years worth of annual passes. Does Disney give away anything like that anymore?

The rep we talked to in the park mentioned their fiscal year ends in Sept, so if we join then, we would get more than if we joined in Oct.

This was our 1st phone call and Disney offered a $15 per point discount per point. Is that good, ho-hum, or what?

Are the free AP's ancient history???

What was your incentive when you purchased????
Thanks!

Your aunt must have purchased at OKW back before 1997. No free passes since then, except for purchases at SSR about a year ago. And they were a one time thing. $15 a point discount is pretty good. It brings the price of SSR down to $86 a point from $101 a point.

Actually, the pass incentive was you got the number of passes for half of what the room occupancy was. If it was a 2 br - which holds 8, you got 4 hoppers which included the 3 main parks. Once AK opened, it was not included in the passes. The pass incentive ended sometime at the end of 1996 and the buyers that purchased up to that point got those free passes until 1999. Dang, i just missed that incentive when we bought. It sure was a good one. Obviously, DVC doesn't need to do that anymore to sell itself! However, we now get $100 off of an annual pass (regular) which is still a pretty good discount!

She signed up for OKW when they started the DVC - when was that? 1991 or so...That was a heck of a promo.

I was wondering what the best promos they run now are???

$15 a point!

The "free" park admissions were available to OKW and VB buyers thru 1996 (?). The passes were good thru the end of 1999 for stays at OKW.

Since then, DVC has offered APs, at times, for DVC purchases (usually only for add-ons by current members). At this time, there are no incentives that include the free APs.

Just to clarify, they were not annual passes.

You had to be staying at OKW, on points, and then got free park passes for each day of your stay.

Basically they were length of stay park hoppers, and were only good for the parks that were already opened, and were not good for any future construction such as AK.

When I purchased the incentive was $15 off/point with a referral and 2 APs to WDW or DL. So, free AP's are not ancient history . . . probably just hard to come by.

Not true. It's October and the promo is $15 off per point which is pretty darn good. You won't get any better deals by joining at the end of their fiscal year.

Yes, I believe the $15 off/point with a referral and 2 APs to WDW or DL is still going on for purchasers at DL. That's what I've been told by people who have recently purchased DVC while at DL.

We're heading down there tomorrow for 6 days, so I'll see if this incentive is still in effect. :cool1:

I just purchased this week at DL. The offer is still $15 off per point and two passes at either DL or WDW.
